*Calls for Sovereign National Conference

An elder statesman and former presidential candidate of the Nigeria Advance Party (NAP), Dr. Tunji Braithwaite has called on the Federal Government to set the machinery in motion for the convening of a Sovereign National Conference by next year when Nigeria’s amalgamation law of 1914 would expire.

He said this will enable the people to make a constitution of their choice in governing the country.

Speaking at the weekend at the 154th Founder’s Day Thanksgiving of the CMS Grammar School in Lagos, Braithwaite declared that the constitutional amendment being carried out at the moment by the National Assembly is an exercise in futility as any amendment made to that constitution now would also expire, come 2014.

He said: “The reality today of that amalgamation is that both in legal and political contexts, it is bound to expire in 2014 by effluxion of time, unless the people concerned now voluntarily agree to its terms or modify them.

“Let the word go forth that the simpleminded proposal of the Goodluck Jonathan administration to celebrate the century of Nigeria’s amalgamation in 1914 by the fiat of Ida British colonial officer is precisely a disgrace to the present generation.

“What is there to celebrate? It would have been a different thing altogether if we, as a nation, were celebrating founding father’s birth of a nation that has over the years blossomed into a strong, cohesive and socio/political vibrant force in the comity of nations. The reverse is the case here. We, therefore, call on President Jonathan to perish the idea of this disgraceful celebration.”

He advised that this generation should rise to the occasion of Nigeria’s centenary to finally destroy its last inglorious relics and simultaneously birth a modern and progressive nation, instead of clinking glasses of champagne, celebrating and venerating a bad history of enslavement.

Braithwaite warned against tinkering with the constitution to give all elective office holders extra two terms across board and retain immunity for corrupt office holders as this, according to him, will be igniting a social and political tinder box.

“They will be trampling underfoot, the Nigerian people’s sovereignty. I will urge them not to dare such irresponsibility,” he said.

Blasting Nigeria’s past and present political leaders of wasting the nation’s wealth since independence, Braithwaite said: “The post-independence journey of the nation-state Nigeria is anything but inspiring, yet the paradox of this sad situation is that the various peoples or nationalities that inhabit the geographical space of Nigeria are among the best endowed humans on the planet.”

While arguing that the natural resources within the area amalgamated to officially create a nation in 1914 are enough to make every Nigerian live comfortably, he regretted that these are being frittered and wasted by a coterie, exploiting the ignorance and the primordial culture of subservience prevalent in the land. He, however assured that soon, this generation will resolve the issue of their own destiny.

Nnamdi Kanu has been saying this in Radio Biafra.
He even claimed to have a copy of the document that almagamated naija in 1914.

Radio Biafra may just be the Elijah of the age.

Whoever God joined together, let no man put asunder. In Nigeria's case, she is unwillingly joined together. Therefore the agrieved spouse must put asunder.

Good news here......we have electicity for the past ten months. Thanks to nobody's body odour.

Nigeria as a country was built on wrong foundation, even the British, US knew that Nigeria will break up one day. UK has 4 countries in it, eg Wales, England, Scotland and Northern Island, then ask yourself why they cannot be one country like Nigeria, USA has all it states operating as a semi independent country, immigration law in Texas is not the same with California, China has Taiwan, Hong Kong, Tibet and Macau as part of China which are all semi independent, without confederation in Nigeria there will be no peace, Nigeria need to go back to Aburi peace accord, Nigeria will never be a progressive country because Nigeria is made up of irreconcilable entities that cannot align, Nigeria suppose to have 4 countries eg Arewa, Biafra, Midland, Oduduwa under confederation just like UK, China, Netherlands etc, without this Nigeria will never know peace.

Fetishes yorubas claims all the goodie goodies. Diabolical yorubas claims sophistication and progressive, then

Why do yorubas still want be in the same country with violent-illiterate hausa-fulani?

Why do yorubas still want to be with uncultured igbos?

What is wrong with yorubas?
Or are yorubas simply living on lies?
