Rivers State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Par­ty (PDP), has described the statements credited to the All Progressives Congress (APC) Publicity Secretary, Chris Fynebone, that the State Government had a hand in the pro-Biafra protest as treasonable.
The party described Fynebone's statements as aimed at encouraging the breakdown of law and order in the state.
In a statement by Jerry Needam, Special Adviser on Media and Publicity to the state PDP Chairman, Felix Obuah, the party said by linking the State Government and the PDP to last Tuesday's unlawful protest on the streets of Port Harcourt by members of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), the APC could not hide its des­peration for power.
The party described Fynebone's comments and acts as malicious and misleading.
It added that Fynebone by his utterances and actions has shown a detestable penchant for mischief and black­mail to make a living.
The party lamented that the opposition party would undertake to promote disaffection between the govern­ment and the peaceful and more reasonable people of Rivers State by going on air to allege support for the Biaf­ran agitators against Governor Nyesom Wike.
The PDP stressed that Wike remains a prominent apostle of one indivisible Nigeria.
The party urged the Inspector-General of Police and the Departmentt of State Services (DSS) to invite Fyne­bone to explain and provide evidence of his high trea­sonable statement.
'We are however, very bold to say that both Governor Wike and PDP in Rivers State are, and will continue to remain in the fore-front of one united Nigeria against all centrifugal forces, no matter where they come from."
