The World Bank has said it needs additional time to provide comprehensive information on the funds looted by the late Head of State, General Sani Abacha. The World Bank told a human civil society group, Socio-Economic Rights and Accountability Project (SERAP) seeking information on the loot that for now, it is compiling information on the spending. According to the World Bank: βIn response to your request, we would like to inform you that we are still considering your request and we will need additional time because the money involved is too huge for us to handle.β The World Bank said that although it takes just 20 working days to respond to such requests, under special cases, it could take much longer time. The loot stolen by the former military ruler from 1993 to 1998 is estimated to be about $11.3 billion. The Socio-Economic Rights and Accountability Project (SERAP) had written to the World Bank demanding information on the spending of the loot recovered from the late military dictator. "Abacha never stole and was not corrupt "-Buhari The United States has taken control of more than $480 million looted by former Nigerian dictator Sani Abacha and his associates after a court ruling, the Justice Department said on Thursday.http://www.reuters.com/article/2014/08/07/us-usa-nigeria-assets-idUSKBN0G72BO20140807 A push to recover $4bn squirrelled away into the family's private accounts in Switzerland forced the tax haven to relax banking secrecy regulations after landmark rulings. In 2006, the Swiss authorities returned $500m to Nigeria β the first time European banks had returned looted money to an African country.http://www.theguardian.com/world/2012/oct/05/nigeria-sani-abacha-jewellery-police 1 Like |

The response from World Bank is annoying. What is too huge for your to respond, but you know how to draw debt when the time comes. |

Boss13:Do you think that the West will allow you pull out $11billion from their economy? You should understand that they have no intention of repatriating the said loot. |

TonyeBarcanista: We know that already and likewise a shame when they point their hands to indict Africa for corruption because they are also involved in the corrupt practice. I think our lacklustre behaviour towards events needs to change. On the other hand, have you settled with Cramjones on the bottle of drink he got you. |

Boss13:We all know that the Bretton Wood Institutions (World Bank and IMF) are out to serve the interest of "Big Countries". You should rather blame foolish African leaders that will rather loot, and store in foreign countries where neither they nor their families will enjoy. People should stay away from looting! On the other hand, I'm not aware of any drink... Maybe I won't mind your own drink |

The North is our problem. One has already said that Abacha stole nothing and is not corrupt, who knows how much he intends to corner. World Bank, pls ABACHA IS NOT CORRUPT, HE STOLE NOTHING. This may be buhari's loot, pls look well. |

I remember a joke about an argument between Abacha and Mobutu at heaven's gate. Mobutu told the angels on guard that he deserved to be the first to get in because Abacha stole $11 billion in 5 years while all he could manage was $5 billion after over 30 years of looting! |
