arowtop:Ha ha. You only Like them when you are watching project fame or visiting their hospital in Lagos. Guess what, if they leave the country, you won't be able to enjoy those facilities. |

Supremor: You will always feel less concerned when it doesn't concern you. You can look up the number of Nigerians emplyed by MTN then you will appreciate them. MTN will pay the fine and move on but I think this issue of lambasting MTN will stop the moment MTN is quoted in NSE and you invest in it then you will understand how it feels when fines of this nature is slammed on them. Then all Nigerians will run to their rescue to save their investment |

Mikkyboy008: I dumped MTN since 2004 because of their sharp practices and moved over to Glo. Believe me, I never regretted that decision. It is judgement day for mtn. They violated the law, they must pay the penalty. Pure & simple. |

It has always been about the Benjamins for both the NCC and MTN, it isn't as if the NCC suddenly developed a loving heart for nigerians. I will miss MTN if they should call it quits |

There's nothing like a good reason for going against the law. I've not used any other network apart from MTN but won't support that they shouldn't be penalized for going against the law. The only thing that can be done to help them is to bring down the fine to a reasonable amount but for them to go un-punished is a NO NO. 1 Like |

Good for them, despite havin BIS on my BB, these bastards went ahead to deduct N685 balance within 30minutes of browsing after subscription, called customer service on 5 diff times each with diff stories as to why my money was deducted while some promised to refund my account, others were putting the blame on me. I just sharply broke their yellow fever sim and inserted my glo. 1 Like |

Princedapace:One sided opinion. My aunt bought their sim they frustrated her with Unnecessary deductions, Their (phone) customer care are on a mission to ruin them 'cos they're so rude.... They do this & that for Nigeria, do you have an idea how much they rake in 'cos the writer is typing like they're doing Nigeria a Favour.... If not for Glo & Etisalat that came with lower charges, they will continue ripping us off. I personally don't like them + their home country is xenophobic, they hate Nigerians. Though the fine is too much. At most - Unemployment, tax & CSR. We can deal with that. Another company Will replace them with immediate effect. Awon ti o fe wa, ko ye ka fe won. 1 Like |

Princedapace: Oga pls!!! Do not thank mtn, thank Obasanjo for bringing in gsm to naija. If not for airtel wey dey change management like cloth mtn wouldnt hav held us spellbound all these years. Coupled with our corrupt politicians and an NCC that had hitherto been shackled with bribes (not that they r now corruptn-free o bt at least they all r nw mindful of their conduct), mtn wouldnt had the effrontery to treat the common man like they always do. God bless glo and etisalat for us, let mtn go back to its south africa pple r waiting to buy them and wave them goodbye sef. They cant try 0.1% of the poo they throw at us here in southafrica. Good penalty, i must say, let them keep paying! 1 Like |

Op I see you are either a staff of MTN or you are under their pay roll,MTN are criminals-they charge for ringing tones you didn't request and their charges too f-cking high. If they brokke the law they should be fined 3trillion. |

Re: We Nigerians Are Unfair To MTN by osazee12(m): 8:25am On Oct 31, 2015 |
no doubt MTN has done their bit, but the law is the law and if you found to have broken the law, you just have to face the penalty. they are in Nigeria to do business and they have made alot of money. if they cant pay the fine and they wanna leave so be it. there are alot of companies that are will to come do telcom business in Nigeria. |
Re: We Nigerians Are Unfair To MTN by shizzy7(f): 8:28am On Oct 31, 2015 |
frankman365:They're already on their way out. One of the reasons why they want to be listed on Nigeria Stock Exchange So they can see something to hold on to. For over 10 yrs, why didn't they go to NSE. Check the rate of Customer subscribers on NCC website, MTN is the least with a 0.44% increase while Glo,Etisalat & Airtel are leading the pack. If they leave, today, the other 3 will take their Customers, expand their outlets, employe people, pay higher tax and more CSR policy. Better still another company Will replace them. |
Re: We Nigerians Are Unfair To MTN by HaneefahRN(f): 8:28am On Oct 31, 2015 |
I think they shld add free calls and data for 5 months to all their customers as part of the penalty sef. I almost cried the day MTN took over N300 airtime from me and claim it was used for browsing even while I had an existing data plan and repeated the same thing few weeks later. I know better than to load on d sim nw. I feel no pity for them. 419 pple |

Re: We Nigerians Are Unfair To MTN by kingdong(m): 8:32am On Oct 31, 2015 |
MTN MUST learn this very expensive lesson at not taking Nigeria for granted like they have enjoyed doing in the past, thinking they are above the law. They are a very evil capitalist gang of crooks like many others, who will NEVER put Nigeria first. What with the billions of dollars they secretly and illegally export out of the country to secret accounts in offshore tax havens. They MUST pay the money. And yes, they can afford it easily, even double. Worst case scenario is that there will be no dividend payment for shareholders and less money (not no money) for the very criminal fat cat directors. Some crooks already sold off massive amounts of shares on the JSE before the information went public. Now that price has fallen up to 20% and might fall even more, they will buy back. Buy with them, don't dull, because the share price will rise again because mtn will overcome this bump in just a little time. Only Nigeria and Nigerians can put Nigeria first, but with the quality of leadership we have been cursed with, this remains a pipe dream and the MTNs of this world will continue, with the help of our leaders, the joint rape and pillaging of our beloved country. |

@op, ur defence of the lawless act of MTN is not acceptable my me. The only thing it reminds me is to call their customers care before the will leave if the contemplate it at all. Last Monday the charged N5 on a 1 sec call duration I made. So Mtn lawyer, that was a mistake for sure! If you think mtn has done u a lot good which is right, u have done a lot more good to them. Its not even symbiosis at all. My only advice to them is to upgrade to the change mantra we are in. Defaulters will not go free. Thanks. |
Re: We Nigerians Are Unfair To MTN by Realdeals(m): 8:34am On Oct 31, 2015 |
They thought PMB was joking when they were summoned by the presidency regarding the SIM registration, they ignored the deadline. Then chief Olu Falae abductors uses unregistered MTN lines to communicate, security personnel approach them for the user info, they cannot provide. They now fined them some people now behaving like a good samaritan. The issue of reprieve is beyond NCC. Don't forget our current VP Osinbajo is a private investors in MTN, am sure that would aggravate the issue for them. |
Re: We Nigerians Are Unfair To MTN by Inspectahdeck(m): 8:34am On Oct 31, 2015 |
coolboma: How old are you? So sorry to ask but your response shows you don't know what you are saying. Mtn sold their sim as high as 50,000 when they commenced operation. I bought mine for 23,000 in 2002. At that time they charged 50 Naira per/min even if it's 1 second gba they take your 50naira. Until glo came and every thing changed. My mtn line has turn to my second line, I don't buy credit anymore on same, how can mtn charge me 1,500 Naira for 500mb when glo is charging 1,000 Naira for 3.1gb. Nigeria is their largest customer and it showed in the fluctuation of their stock in SA. Finally, they are not good to their staffs I know first hand my wife works for mtn. They should pay the fine to serve as a deterrent to others. |
