We all need a bit of perspective – these days of 24/7 news and constant drip drip of speculation and blog hysteria is getting to people.

The highlighted is fast becoming the problem with Arsenal fans.
Goodness me, it's only July 29 and people are making assumptions.
Are you watching this league for the very first time.
People here just read drivel over the net, take it hook, line and sinker, then come here to spit it out.
Decipher yourself and stop leting some silly footie analysts in cyberspace influence your thinking.

Name ONE analyst who predicted we would be 4th in 05/06 after winning the FA cup and coming second in 04/05. Name one analyst who felt we would be 4th and trophyless after reaching the CL final in 07.

Hindsight is so amazing isn't it? undecided

Everybody is now spewing theories and saying Wenger is stubborn and resigned to 4th place. I guess the same people predicted a 'nobody' from Japan would come and win 3 titles 4 FA cups 4 community shields and reach numerous other finals. undecided

Just in case you haven't noticed, MOST analysts have always predicted we would win nothing for the past 3 seasons! (the boys have always gone on to show promise and confound them ofcourse but usually yeilding no end results).

plus we reached the champs league final in 2007? 2006 you mean mate.

I just did a little internet search and Il post the results below. Do you recognise the highlighted words? cheesy

i'm an arsenal fan too - don't think we've a hope in hell. However i don't think man u do either. I reckon it's chelsea vs livers. UNLESS arsenal sign at least two proven players (CB and Holding MF) before deadline day.

I'm a Chelsea fan, and agree that we have some problems. Hopefully JM and JT can sort them, otherwise We'll be in trouble - also, Man U i reckon will be out of the top 4, and Arsenal/Chelsea will be battling for top

There was an interesting article on the BBC web site today. A rational
supporter of each premier league club wrote up his teams prospects and
made predictions for the coming season. Liverpool were predicted in
1st place by 7 contributers, Man Utd got 1 vote, Arsenal surprisingly
got 0 votes
. Chelsea got 12.
# posted by Anonymous Anonymous : 2:21 PM

Actually this is the first site that is giving Arsenal a chance to win the league. An I agree with the assesement. Arsenal Lost the title last year because they took so much time to recover from the loss of Viera (which was the heart of the team). (lol, we are always recovering from the loss of one player or another)

The champions league run from last year saw the emegence of Frabregas and he is progressing each and everytime I see him play. This year, there are some many youngs players are are folling the path of Fabregas and That will get Arsenal to the top.
# posted by Anonymous Anonymous : 2:31 PM

interesting picks, but write manchester united off with caution. they will be top of the leauge by the halfway mark for sure, then the real race begins. just look at the schedule. besides, the transfer window hasnt closed just yet. this is the team that took chelsea to the last few games and like liverpool had a strong run at the end of the season.

btw, thats a 2006 post after we had just reached the CL final for the first time!

Eduardo Da Silva Questions Arsenal's Title Credentials

Arsenal striker Eduardo da Silva admits that it will be an extremely tough proposition for the club to challenge for the Premier League title this season.

The Gunners finished 18 points adrift of champions Manchester United in fourth spot last term and the club are yet to make any real headway in the transfer market this summer following the sole arrival of Thomas Vermaelen from Ajax.

With Kolo Toure on the verge of joining former team-mate Emmanuel Adebayor at Manchester City, many have predicted the Eastlands outfit to challenge the Gunners and their rivals for the title this campaign.

While the majority of Arsenal fans will be hoping their side to mount an assault on the Premier League this season, Croatian international Eduardo has moved to dampen expectations.

"It will be very hard, really very, very hard [to win the Premier League]," the 26-year-old told Sportske Novosti.

"Now Kolo Toure is also leaving, so I don't know.

"But of course Arsenal is a club which is always looking for the top spots. I think our main goal will be to be in the top four next season."

With regards to Mark Hughes' Manchester City and their credentials, Eduardo believes balance could be the problem in their quest for Premier League glory.

"They are stronger, no doubt, but we have to wait and see how things are going to work," the former Dinamo Zagreb attacker added.

"For example, Adebayor and Santa Cruz can't play together. Tevez can play behind strikers and he even helps defending, but those two just can't play together.

"I would say the same as for us - it will be hard for them to win the Premier League."

Yes unfortunately we have to come up with money to service our debts and also buy players every season. And the only way to balance the books and not increase the debt is by selling which is exactly what wenger is doing. Hence i would not be suprised if Fabregas is sold next year.

Is it true that Arsene claimed that he had "too many" defenders?,who and where are they?As I recall, the minute Clichy was injured we had to cope with the costly inexperience of Gibbs, was Wenger referring to Gibbs and his likes

I believe his starting defenders are Sagna,Gallas,Vermalean,Clichy
backed up by Eboue as right back,Senderros,Djorou ,Silvestre and Song as centre back and Gibbs,Traore as left back

The problem is that Song is our best DM based on last season even though he can play CB. Senderros-Last time he put on an Arsenal Shirt was not good enough even though he had a good spell when toure was at the last nations cup. SIlvestre is just wack. Djorou has to step up.

I hope we get that fulham defender and hold on to eboue cos believe it or not eboue is a better crosser of the ball as right back than sagna is.

I am optimistic about the new season. This might just be our year cool
