that's why when they graduate they begin to form. like say they were forced to study the course. I don't no whether it's due to the attitude of naIJA doctors but I hate doctors because they are always arrogant. they be like do u know how many years I spent in school and I be like who send you.

This is one of the many ways Nigeria keep getting it wrong. You keep students longer in class doesn't mean they would turn out better. Its Quality ( and real life exposure in this case) that matters and not Quantity.

Such establishment should give opportunity for the general public and stake holders to tender their informed opinions on matters such as this and take the general public opinion into serious consideration. Not just reeling out " ideas" for the public audience and intending students without listening to their input.
7 years in Med school is unnecessarily long.

we should actually take this to news columns on newspapers online platforms.

Time of letting me these oldies make and take unilateral decisions that affects the general public is past and should be done away with.

What do you expect from a primitive society like Nigeria? Instead of getting the right infrastructure, proper study environment and research materials in place they are increasing the study years in those god forsaken universities. You're an id*iot, I'm an Engineer working in a big company in Europe. How about that?
You st*upid local champion! You can never attain my level in your pathetic lifetime.

Useless "doctors" in Nigeria have killed many and it's a fact! People die everyday from common curable illnesses in Nigeria.

For instance;
1. A man who had appendicitis symtoms was told he had a stomach ulcer.
2. A man who was in mild coma was pronounced dead.
3. A girl who had Bipolar disorder was declared insane and chained immediately.
4. Nigerian doctors have no clue how to conduct medical resuscitation.
5. A man was suffering from Dehydration and was given a cocktail of injection that nearly rendered him useless.
6. A man went to a hospital with Migraine symtoms and ended up on operating table.
7. Last year, a team of "doctors" in lagos operated on a woman who had Intestinal Obstruction, and destroyed her large Intestine. The poor woman began dying gradually until she was moved to an indian hospital. The Indian doctors noted that the id*iots (who called themselves doctors) not only messed up her intestines but that a section of her intestine had been cut off. As a consequence, the Indian doctors said, she may not be able to pass faeces from her an*us any longer!

I could go on and on. Nigerian hospital is a scary place where many sick people entered and either got killed or came out worse.

Useless "doctors" in Nigeria have killed many and it's a fact! People die everyday from common curable illnesses in Nigeria.

Well...some of us are bad....but.....that does not mean the majority of us are horrible.

Plus...many die in Nigeria because 1)Late presentation to hospital because of poverty. 2)Lack of adequate hospitals 3) Poor transport facilities. 4)Poor infrastructure. 5)Lack of good facilties.

For instance;
1. A man who had appendicitis symtoms was told he had a stomach ulcer.

Appendicitis can present with vague stomach pain that can mimic pain from other parts of the body. A common phenomenon due to the fact that the appendix 1)Shares a common innervation from a common nerve root 2)The appendix is positioned differently in many people. In some instances , it is on the wrong side of the body, and in others it is higher than it usually is .Ulcers too are very variable.

2. A man who was in mild coma was pronounced dead.

That is due most often to the absence of good monitoring equipment in many Nigerian hospitals....leading us to work with our eyes and ears.

3. A girl who had Bipolar disorder was declared insane and chained immediately.

1. That is sad.
2.Most Nigerian psychiatric hospitals are poorly equipped and have poor resources.
3.You have not told us who made the determination that the girl is ''insane''...was it a doctor,or a specialist.
4.Some patients with manic disorder may become a bit violent in the ''manic'' phase...so they have to be restrained.
5.Was the patient in a proper psychiatric hospital....or a Nigerian general hospital where they have no facilities for psychiatric patients most of the time?

4. Nigerian doctors have no clue how to conduct medical resuscitation

WE DO.

Problem is....no defibrillators, not ECG monitors, no airways, etc. At the end of the day....we do the basics. More advanced stuff....sigh.
.
5. A man was suffering from Dehydration and was given a cocktail of injection that nearly rendered him useless.

1.You have not told us why he was suffering from dehydration. That is important...especially when the man has underlying medical conditions that might worsen his case....
2.Of course...that does not rule out negligence.

6. A man went to a hospital with Migraine symtoms and ended up on operating table.

1.You have not told us why he needed an operation. Or what kind.

Perhaps he needed a brain op...because the doc found a tumor in the brain that was causing the headaches!

2.A woman came to me with a skin lesion. Further examination revealed that her blood pressure was 270/160. We dealt with the BP...and then dealt with her skin lesions.

Also a family friend went for a routine checkup....and they found a pre-cancerous lesion....which was removed...and which turned out to be malignant. In a Nigerian Hospital.

1.You have not told us what caused the intestinal obstruction.

If it was cancerous.....there is nothing the Nigerians or the Indians could do. Plus...if there was a delay in operating the woman because of late presentation....a lot of damage could have been done.

I could go on and on. Nigerian hospital is a scary place where many sick people entered and either got killed or came out worse.

Nigerian hospitals also suffer from funding problems, lack of staff, and lack of good facilities.Yet....we try our best.

While the rest of you university students have to face ASUU strike alone....we have ASUU strike, Doctors strike, JOHESU strike etc....in the hospitals...where our clinical training takes place. And that delays students.

I myself spent an extra year at my school.....because of hospital union strikes....including one that happened the year I gained admission!
