Well...some of us are bad....but.....that does not mean the majority of us are horrible.

Plus...many die in Nigeria because 1)Late presentation to hospital because of poverty. 2)Lack of adequate hospitals 3) Poor transport facilities. 4)Poor infrastructure. 5)Lack of good facilties.

Appendicitis can present with vague stomach pain that can mimic pain from other parts of the body. A common phenomenon due to the fact that the appendix 1)Shares a common innervation from a common nerve root 2)The appendix is positioned differently in many people. In some instances , it is on the wrong side of the body, and in others it is higher than it usually is .Ulcers too are very variable.

That is due most often to the absence of good monitoring equipment in many Nigerian hospitals....leading us to work with our eyes and ears.

1. That is sad.
2.Most Nigerian psychiatric hospitals are poorly equipped and have poor resources.
3.You have not told us who made the determination that the girl is ''insane''...was it a doctor,or a specialist.
4.Some patients with manic disorder may become a bit violent in the ''manic'' phase...so they have to be restrained.
5.Was the patient in a proper psychiatric hospital....or a Nigerian general hospital where they have no facilities for psychiatric patients most of the time?

WE DO.

Problem is....no defibrillators, not ECG monitors, no airways, etc. At the end of the day....we do the basics. More advanced stuff....sigh.
.

1.You have not told us why he was suffering from dehydration. That is important...especially when the man has underlying medical conditions that might worsen his case....
2.Of course...that does not rule out negligence.

1.You have not told us why he needed an operation. Or what kind.

Perhaps he needed a brain op...because the doc found a tumor in the brain that was causing the headaches!

2.A woman came to me with a skin lesion. Further examination revealed that her blood pressure was 270/160. We dealt with the BP...and then dealt with her skin lesions.

Also a family friend went for a routine checkup....and they found a pre-cancerous lesion....which was removed...and which turned out to be malignant. In a Nigerian Hospital.

1.You have not told us what caused the intestinal obstruction.

If it was cancerous.....there is nothing the Nigerians or the Indians could do. Plus...if there was a delay in operating the woman because of late presentation....a lot of damage could have been done.

Nigerian hospitals also suffer from funding problems, lack of staff, and lack of good facilities.Yet....we try our best.

Keep giving him this free education, one day he will learn. I have no time to teach people who are resistant to learning... "in Europe "

Mr. Engineer in Europe grin.
I hail you. Please make coherent arguments first and differentiate between Nigerian Doctors and Nigerian Hospitals. As for all the things you wrote up there (whether facts or fiction) na you sabi. Permit me to say that Nigerian Doctors are making waves in Nigeria, Europe and America and all we need is for infrastructures to improve.
Nigerian Doctors told late Akunyili about her Cancer but American Doctors decided a different thing and now we know the outcome.
Even in your almighty Europe (from the way you wrote, I honestly doubt you are anywhere outside Ojuelegba) there are no cases of malpractice abi Abeg shift. If I call you useless engineer now, hope you will feel alright about it. Don't let me insult you.

I hope you don't call yourself a doctor. Are you? It would be scary you were.

All medical students should be on full government scholarship and should spend one year before graduation at a world class hospital in the UK, US, Canada, Israel, Cuba, Japan and Luxembourg.
Joke? If not, Picture this. How about channeling all that "scholarship" money and "trip to world class hospitals" into developing OUR own hospitals and consequently OUR medical training? Misplaced priorities be messing us up since 1960. Smh.

I really don't know why you guys are making so much fuss bout this.. U people need to make research or read more bout the piece of news before spewing out rubbish.. angry over there in the UK & US, you have to have a degree in the faculty of sciences or basic medical sciences.. E.g Biochemistry, Physiology, microbiology etc before you are allowed to proceed in studying Medicine. Whereas over here in Nigeria, it's just a straight road to acquiring MBBS.. Nd someone is trying to fix the mistake.. But of course ignorant Nigerians expecially nairalanders that think and comment through their anuses will start barking undecided
.. And if u like quote me.. I know you are among the teaming unemployed population grin

1.What you just said is true only in the US.

2.In the UK...it is true for a minority of students. (as it is in Nigeria)Most intending medical students in the UK go from secondary school to medical school.

However some UK medical students take a year or two off between their equivalent of third and fourth year to do a (usually taught) masters.

3.I like the US model.....and if I went to the US...I would have done a degree in biochem or physiology before going to the MD segment. But the UK model ....which Nigeria uses...works because we need the doctors....and putting them through the two tier US system might make things longer

4.We are yet to get the full details of what 7 years means for Medical school in Nigeria

5.)Another model I like is the one in some European countries....where if you enter medical school....you are still a student until you graduate as a specialist doc...which can mean being a student for ten years.(Oh yes.....).

You exposed what? You exposed your poor little pathetic as*s! Who helped you to write that? I ask because the English is not too bad this time, but you still need help from a nursery school teacher.

I knew you could't be a doctor because you are too incapacitated mentally to even become a quack one. You couldn't even mention your profession because you're either too ashamed of it or you're a poor jobless thug.

You're nobody and you know it. The more I respond to a loser like you, the more I lose some brain cells.

What a st*upid illiterate "graduate" you're! You called yourself a medic and still can't write a simple plain English? Really? Shame on you st*upid quack!

How could you be allowed to go near a patient! How many have you killed with you incompetence?

Anyone could cheat their way through medical school in Nigeria, that's why most Nigerian "doctors" like you are shamelessly and abysmally clueless! You end up killing as many people as possible. Hostipal becomes a slaughter house!
