Its challenging investing in Nigeria.
That is the responsibility of the government and the leaders have to put the right infrastructure and incentive in place so that these western giants can come in. I am tired of MTN and other mediocre companies in Nigeria.

There is money to make from telecommunication sector in Nigeria and I don't know why reputable western companies are not interested in the Nigerian market and bring in innovations. It is very boring at the moment due to poor infrastructure and services.

And some people keep defending MTN that the fine is outrageous.

Calculate

N238b x 12months= N2.856tr

N2.856tr x 4years (from 2011 of the directive)= N8.568tr

40% mtn market share(estimate) x N8.568tr= N3427.2tr

If they pay N1.4tr out of it is not too much.

This is an unintelligent write up to deceive people. what is the source of the report that suggests that N238b is spent on airtime.

If MTN(40%) shareholder, makes annual revenue of less than N800b in Airtime, interconnect, Roaming and other services, it then suggests that monthly average is annual national revenue of the four major operators will be less than N2,000b which put monthly airtime purchases to less than N150b.

That is the truth. South African MTN is a foreign company and I am talking about western telecommunication giants that can bring in better expertise for innovation. Why go for less when there are western companies that can do better? The telecommunication in Nigeria is not advanced and it is very boring. In fact, 90% are based on mobile communication, mostly, through smartphones. That is so embarrassing.

This is the right time for Nigeria to divert her economy and one of the best avenue is farming. All almost all us know what farming is and without boring ourselves much let me go straight to the point.
There are lots of modern equipments(tools) that are makingfarming easy and less stress unlike olds when our fore fathers only use manpower. One of these tools is 2 wheels tractor,a machine that can be used to convey harvested crops from farmto either warehouse or store, this machine can also be used for many things.Without this tool farming is incomplete.
The machine is very scarces in Nigeria I am looking for either investor, government agency or groups of people who can join hand together to bring this to Nigeria.

Now you realise just why mtn has to cough up the over one trillion naira fine and pay up or fold up.
Someone will be there shouting "pity mtn" as if the MTN don ever pity am.
It's a pity that some Nigerians think MTN is doing them a favour by employing them. And you wonder why our leaders take us for a ride. Our people have been subjugated for far too long and have become too accustomed to suffering so much that they regard a social responsibility as a favour done.

You can never common from the side of Ngozi okonjo Iwela, elumelu, ndudi, utomi, zenith bank guru and our able governor Ifeanyi Okowa, the only true peoples governor and be talking like this. Without these ones, there are no Delta state. Now, who are you? How old are you? Who owns delta state. Answer me.

That means about $12bn yearly, MTN being the telecom with the largest subscribers would take in like half of those money($5bn), Not to talk of Data subscriptions which is probably the highest, Apart for the Old many young Nigerians spends more on browsing. So yea, MTN can pay that fine! cheesy

Don't mind that Olodo. He simply multiplied 40 by 8.568, MTN made N3.4272tr which represents 40% of 8.568tr in four years imagine if they 1.35tr it will significantly affect them.
