The Rivers State Police Command has warned members of the Indigenous People of Biafra ( IPOB) to forget about staging any form of protests in the state today, Friday, November 6, 2015, as the command will not tolerate acts that will disturb the peace of the state.
IPOB had planned to stage peaceful demonstration in major cities of the defunct Eastern Region, including Port Harcourt, the state capital to protest the continued detention of the director of Radio Biafra, Nnamdi Kanu by the Department of State Services (DSS) in Abuja.
The state commissioner of police, Mr. Musa Kimo, who addressed newsmen in Port Harcourt yesterday, said he was aware of plans by some miscreants to carry out the protests in the state.
Kimo stated that all security agencies are on the alert and ready to arrest and prosecute anyone found disturbing public peace and advised parents and guardians to warn their children against participating in any protest in the state.
