What Is Destroying Nigeria Is Not Corruption by Orikinla(m): 9:38pm On Nov 09, 2015
What is destroying Nigeria is not corruption, but intellectual ignorance and hypocrisy.

The intellectual ignorance of the masses and hypocrisy of the ruling class are the fundamental causes of the widespread incompetence in public office and the connivance of the private sector to exploit the intellectual ignorance of the masses and incompetence of majority of civil servants who have cheated at examinations at all levels of education or dubbed and forged projects and qualifications and scammed their way into the public sector in their competition and desperation for power and success in the rat race of Nigeria. That is why we have secondary school leavers with the IQ of primary school pupils and we have graduates with the IQ of secondary students. Products of a dysfunctional system of education bastardized by incompetent academic staff of unqualified school teachers and lecturers. Graduates who are so intellectually re-tarded that many of them cannot even communicate with students in Ivy League private secondary schools even though they can later afford to send their children to these schools. Many of them cannot help their children with school homework and revisions. Then to worsen their predicament, majority of them use religion as their camouflage of conceit and deceit, but their hypocrisy is often exposed by their lack of spiritual depth and shallow lifestyles of impressionism.

If majority of Nigerians are educated and with high intellectual understanding, they will not engage or indulge in corrupt practices and display uncivilized mannerisms. When people have lost their dignity, integrity and nobility, they will eventually lose their humanity which is the present pathetic state of majority of Nigerians in their dog eat dog society.
That is why we have the socioeconomic irony of Nigeria having the largest economy, but majority of her citizens are among the poorest populations in Africa and with horrible living conditions and terrible public utilities.

Incompetent public officials and ignorant masses of followers who have lost their moral and spiritual virtues and intellectual values. They don't read and therefore they are not well educated and well informed on the facts of life. Majority of them simply glance at news headlines and flip through pages of newspapers and magazines, but they will skip the intellectual reports and features. That is why their intellectual ignorance is the cause of widespread barbaric and primitive violence with thousands of the masses attacking and killing themselves as idiots of the political leaders who use them like fools in their evil greed for political power and money.
They don't even pay condolences to the bereaved families of those who lost their lives in bloody political riots before and after elections. While political supporters were attacking and killing themselves over results of elections, the desperate political rivals are still going on with their business as usual without any teardrop for their slain political followers and thugs. As long as their own precious children are not among them. C'est la vie.

That is why I feel so sorry for the tribal bigots of major political tribes ruling Nigeria. To me all tribal bigots are idiots without commonsense and without conscience to realize that these greedy political leaders have little or no regard for them. If any of their beloved daughters were among the kidnapped Chibok school girls, would they still be having red carpet multi-million naira weddings and other big occasions, luxury trips and taking selfies their errand boys post on Nairaland? For once, think twice before clamouring for or against these politicians who are the real enemies of our progress as a nation.

Even if you cannot read, reason well! If you have commonsense and conscience, you will know the truth that will set you free from the bondage of intellectual ignorance, religious hypocrisy and tribal bigotry. .

Well
articulated; but education cannot totally purge the inherent wicked nature of man. Some will even gain more knowledge on how to be more corrupt

This same thing is seen in learning institution politics and association. Is being educated the true solution? I doubt.
but l don't know if there is anything as "empowering the law" some people are just above the law! And they do whatsoever seem good to them

Where did ur puntuation n paragraphing skills go? Or in their half baked blinds, they never tot u?

Back to d issue, from d lines i read, u blamed intellectual ignorance n hypocrisy , i take exception to these:

The root of curruption is tribalism.
Untill we begin to see ourselves as one n bear down strictly on those trying to steal from us all, we wudnt make no headway.

Gej came, gave alams state pardon( tribal). Buhari has been frantinizing with d abachas n even went on to say abacha wasnt currupt( tribal) . ONCe said they shld stop killing his bh/ fulani brother( that bh needs amnesty, wonda why he aint giving them now) He also has been littering the seat of power with his fellow nomads( tribal)

Probing all percieved enemies n leaving his currupt brothers in peace ( tribal)
How can u solve a problem been part of D problem?

We aint one Nigeria.

The only way out, is to either be one Nigerians or we break up. This has always been an uneven bonding n d centre can no longer hold

. You are entitled to your own comprehension of the article. I have not edited it, because spacing it is not editing it. Please, read your comment again and see how short-sighted you are in your political references.

Abeg op, why are you suddenly concerned about the plight of Nigeria?

You will die of high blood pressure while Nigerians will continue to bastardize their country. just clap for them and be done with it.
. We should be concerned, because ignoring the causes and consequences of our failures will only worsen our predicament. U should have add ceteris paribus..... at times some are adequately educated but used their knowledge for ills instead of contributing to the course of human development.

Our value system in Nigeria is just very bad, it supported and encourage societal ills. our political value system is very poor so is our general orientation and belief system .....

75% (imagined) of Nigerians are crude even our so called technocrats....... .... even some professors and seasoned technocrats would only give great speech, give them the responsibility they passionately talked about and see poor implementation ........

with GEJ's PhD, you would think Nigeria is made but even Okonjo, Diezanni and Stella in aviation messed it all up, check the record of these people in the previous organisations , u would see great management....

Our value system and cultural orientation is very poor and bad ....

. You have really noted the critical problem, bad value system from the bottom to the top. The intellectuals in our Ivory Towers were more upright in the 1970s and 80s. The decadence in our value system started from the late 1980s with the emergence of the military regime of Gen. Ibrahim Badamasi Babaginda. I was an insider and highly privileged at a young age, with direct access to the State House, provided with Toyota Land Cruiser SUV and a driver, wearing designer clothes and well treated at 1004 estate and dating the daughter of a diplomat and also enjoying the close friendship of the beautiful wife of a retired Brigadier-General whom the late military Head of State, Gen. Sani Abacha called "our madam", because her husband was their former commandant. The rot started from that period when we thought we were all having a great time. That was when examination malpractices became widespread at all levels, because parents of students were desperate to get their children into the universities and get the required certificates to get good jobs in government office and big private companies. Graduates had jobs waiting for them as cronyism and nepotism ruled. I was part of it until the cookie crumbled with the political fiasco of the presidential election on June 12, 1993. Things fell apart as Nigeria seemed to have been struck by an arrow of God and we were no longer at ease when the man of the people, the late Chief MKO Abiola was robbed of his presidential mandate after he won the presidential election. The June 12 political crisis destroyed many integral parts of the value system of Nigeria.
