The Delta state government has unveiled plans to begin massive infrastructural development in the state. The states commissioner for Information, a veteran in information dissemination, Hon. Patrick Ukah, disclosed this while speaking to renowned journalists recently in the state capital. Hon Patrick who also spoke against destructive criticism, called out to all to openly criticize the state government when necessary, adding that the governor sees development as part of governance which must not be boasted about also reminding them that governance is a continual process and things are done step by step.
"You see, before a project is embarked upon, it goes through a lot of rigorous processes, we engage the relevant bodies to know the relevance of the project to the populace, we perform tests, we carry out feasibility studies so that it doesn't end up an abandoned project amongst many other things. This are going on simultaneously as we are also trying to see to it that all awarded contracts by the previous administration is not only executed but also executed up to standard" he said.
The Hon. Commissioner also made it clear that the Okowa led administration is in touch with the needs of the people. Citing an example where the governor had to change his route when he heard that a portion of the ogwashi-uku to kwale road was about to be cut off and the governor had to go and see things for himself, adding "you all know what happened to that road after that visit".
He also used the opportunity to reiterate the delta state governments plan for its S.M.A.R.T agenda revealing that the actualization of the S.M.A.R.T agenda is still on course as the Governor who is known more as the Ekwueme 1, does not go back on his promises, as he is bent on delivering each and every one of his campaign promises.
