Ministerial Portfolios: Ndigbo Reacts, Applaud Buhari by hamzeiy: 2:07pm On Nov 12, 2015
Ndigbo Cultural Society of Nigeria (NCSN) has applauded President Muhammadu Buhari for appointing people from the South-East region with worthy ministerial portfolios. In a statement by its president, Udoka Udeogaranya, the group said the worthy ministerial portfolios compliment the recent appointment of people from the zone as federal permanent secretaries, The Guardian reports. According to the group, the president’s recent appoint ments showed that he is beginning to correct the earlier alleged posture of sectionalism into a worthy national posture. The group said: “While we commend President Buhari, we also encourage him to still take a giant step forward and ensure that an Igbo is appointed into the six principal offices of the nation, which will help Igbo leaders convince their kits and kin that no region is left behind in this government .” The NCSN called on their Igbo ambassadors in Buhari’s administration to give their best to the nation and mankind despite the fact that the economic fortunes of the country is at all-time low. President Buhari finally assigned portfolios to the 36 ministers during their swearing in yesterday, November 11. Congratulating the new ministers, Asiwaju Ahmed Bola Tinubu, the national leader of the All Progressives Congress told them that they need to join forces together with the president in order to bring about the desired change. Reacting to the portfolios of the minister, Olisa Metuh, the publicity secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party said the incumbent APC-led government has so far played heavily on “dramatizing” routine procedures and processes, which was even glaring in the postponed swearing-in ceremony of the ministers.
