Federal Govt Must Come Clean On TSA Allegations - NLC by drss(m): 7:52am On Nov 13, 2015
The Nigerian Labour Congress President Comrade Ayuba Wabba has called on the Federal Government to come clean on the Treasury Single Account (TSA) allegation by probing into the alleged collection of N25 billion by the contracted agent.
Speaking in Abuja at a public lecture on “Good Governance with Special Focus on the National Assembly” NLC president, Ayuba Wabba urged the Federal government to come and tell Nigerians the truth about the TSA.
He said, “If what the papers said is true that the Federal government contracted the agent which serves as the remitter agent to collect money into the treasury single account have benefited to the tune of N25 billion, money that would have used to fix some of our challenges, then I don’t think we are practicing what we are preaching and I am not sure we are really trying to bring a positive change in Nigeria because the change we want is one that will put food on our table not money in the pocket of few”.
The President further said there is no justification for Federal government to actually use an agent for the purposes of collecting our revenue because there is no federal government agency that will fail to remit its revenue to the Federal government. Adding that we don’t need an agency to do that work. Speaking on new ministers, he said, “A lot of things have not moved by the speed we were expecting, especially when you look at the economy and our key infrastructures. Even in construction, most of those activities have come to a stop. So invariably, as Nigerians we are expecting that economic activities will be able to kick off immediately. And also we needed the policies and programmes to start to be implemented as soon as possible because four years is just by the corner and so therefore every day must count in whatever government business. And therefore, we are expectant that they should be able to drive effectively the policies and programmes that they have canvassed for especially in the area of job creation.

The company is owned by John Obaro and Ernest Ndokwe, two Igbo men, and the only reason this corrupt arrangement is in place is because the then Minister of Finance, was Igbo. Central Bank Governor, Igbo. Then Secretary to the Federal Government, Igbo. Then add the utterly confused and ignorant President Jonathan.

But Igbos would want us to believe that Yorubas and Hausas are solely responsible for ruining this country! How can you put 1% of the entire evenue of a country to a single company, and the remaining 170 million people get to share 99%. For what? This is a company that simply provides a one-off software, that you can buy for less than $100,000 (N20 million) and can be maintained by less than 30 people. Yet, they are carting away with N50 Billion naira.

It is part of the Jonathan legacy of corruption. Just imagine that Jonathan won, this nonsense of contract will have continued for years to come.

I confirm that Chief Kolade is Chairman and not a shareholder in this company. Companies who seek government contracts often put 'highly respected' members of the company as paid Chairman of their company. The That is why ex President Gowon is Chairman of several companies but he is not the owner of these companies. They just use these men/women as the public face of the companies. Other than Mr Obara and Ndokwe, the other directors are employees of the company, not shareholders.
