You should understand that the verses of quran did not reveal to the prophet at the same time. Each verse has it own history when and why and what happened when the verse was revealed. So each verse has it own explanation, it is called quranic commentary and explanation (tafseer).

Hence you cannot just pick a verse or some verses and say islam is violent.
