Whynotthetruth:They have different cultural, religious beliefs eg compare and Contrast Jukun and Mumunye Ethnic groups.... Some ethnic Nationalities have not up to 10,000 people and there ways of life amongst other things..... I cant even find my ethnic group amongst the ones listed above |

Aufbauh: smh... 1)Which part of my post did the bolded contradict? 2)Nationalizing in a country grants you legal authority to be called an indigene but doesn't confer the moral cum cultural identity of same people on you...A British nationalizing in my community can become one of us...but can easily be picked out by a visitor... 3)And nationalization has NOTHING to do with ethnic identity... don't mix up the two...Ethnicity is more of a "natural" occurance while the other is "nurture" occurance ... |

Whynotthetruth:Jukun - mumunye Christians - Muslims Larger - Smaller bear English names - Bear Muslim names Mainly Catholic - Celebrate Festivals Fetish - Very Engrossed in different Islamic ideologies Mainly traders - Civil servants and Islamic scholars Besides Taraba state has More Christians than Muslims, Thats why No Muslim has ever been substantive governor of the state. 1 Like |

Stolen: Na wa. Bros, I speak Edo language. I am EDO! The word BINI is unknown to an Edo. The Oba is called OMO N OBA N EDO. Bini , Ado , Idu , Aka etc are some of the names by which an EDO is called by outsiders. I am ovbi EDO! There is no way in this world that I would say " I am ovbi BINI " and it will make sense to an Edo. Yes,there is an Edo ethnicity and people that speak related languages from which EDO state is derived. |

Whynotthetruth: Most times I become wary of these back and forth debate on what our kinsmen over the river believe they are. SE has never denied Nzeogwu as one of ours in other to exonerate ourselves from the blames of the first coup What baffles me is that we suffer the same fate when conflict arises. Looking at it from another perspective, nobody wants to be associated with vanquish hence let's forgive them and persuade them to come back to the fold, we are still one people and a formidable ethnic group. |

OnReflection: If the assertion or groupings in this link is right ; 1)Why are Igbo termed land grabbers or expansionists or such other derogatory names when they opine there are Igbo in Benue or Rivers etc? 2)What is the historical evidence that all these groups are distinct culturally, religiously etc |

Whynotthetruth: If you ask me, nah who I go ask More seriously, now, on the issue of distinct culture, I think self-identification has to be honoured. Think of the way the US population census is now conducted... Almost 10 million Americans changed how they identify their race or ethnicity when asked by the Census Bureau over the course of a decade, according to a new study, adding further uncertainty to data officials already consider to be unreliable.Source:http://time.com/3087649/census-race-ethnicity-report/ What does the Census Bureau mean by race?Source:https://www.census.gov/population/race/about/faq.html |

Whynotthetruth:Find out yourself na besides that's not my ethnic group, If you know that the southerners are more than the southerners, simply put there is no point telling you about their migration patterns. NB: They are not related to the South-easterners or South-southerners |

OnReflection: 1)Ethnicity is the only viable option in Nigeria not race as America... 2)Begin a campaign because I presume you to be from SW educating your folks that Igbo aren't wrong in reminding all about their brothers in other states thanks to political balkanization of Igbo after the war... |

adaweezy: You made a blanket statement which I wanted an empirical evidence for...you did fail because the list you duplicated above for me still failed to meet up the criteria of language, cultural and religious distinctiveness... |

Whynotthetruth: Your use of the adverb STILL is very suggestive. You already believe that Igbanke is discriminated against by the Binis. Let an Igbanke indigene come on this forum or anywhere else and make a case of the nature of Bini discrimination. |
