I thought my south western brothers claim not to have obas outside yorubaland, but the reverse is the case, In fact they have 20 obas in northern Nigeria.

The Yoruba Council of Obas in the 19 northern states and Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Abuja have advocated for an amicable resolution of the face-off between farmers in the southwest and Fulani cattle rearer over grazing activities.

Arising from its 5th Quarterly meeting in Abuja, the council implored the Ondo State government to resolve the Fulani Cattle rearers-farmers’ conflict to avoid spill over to the northern part of the country.

A communique signed by the council’s acting Chairman who is also Mai (Oba) of Yoruba in Borno, Alhaji Hassan Yusuf and Dr Alani Adeyemi, Oba Yoruba Gombi, made available to journalists in Maiduguri yesterday, it appealed to the Ondo State governor to use his experience in resolving the problem.

“We implore the Governor of Ondo State, Dr Olusegun Mimiko to use his good office to resolve the ongoing crisis between the Fulani Cattle rearers and farmers in the state amicably and quickly to avoid spill over effect,” the council said.

It advised non-indigenes living in the southwest states and north to abide by the rules and traditional laws of the state they reside. It also urged them to continue to live harmoniously and peacefully with their hosts.

The council commended President Mohammadu Buhari for what it described as his genuine efforts at addressing immediate needs of the country especially the fight against Boko Haram insurgency and other security challenges, calling for support from all Nigerians. End

Igbo presence threatens yorubas. I dnt kw why?

Why will they even have obas out their land when they hardly step out of their region....

But they don't disgrace themselves fighting for title or any frivolous issue like ndigbo anywhere they are found all over the world.

Instead they are respected and ardoured.

Igbos have a lot to learn from us only if they can be humble.

And can the Igbos tolerate other tribes from having a King in their domain like the Huasa's did ?

Anyone calling himself or her self an Oba outside Yoruba lands should be dealt with very well,there is a stark difference from an Emperor, King and just a leader of a group of people, the title "Oba" should not be desecrated, you won't hear of a sultan of Oshogbo or Emir of aba,no one should use the name Oba in another man's land if his crown does not come from ile ife,there are other names in Yoruba they can use not an Oba, although I have no respect for any traditional ruler or any monarchy all men are born equal.
