The President of the nation, Muhammadu Buhari has reacted to the news of Prince Abubakar Audu’s demise with deep regret.

Speaking through his Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Garba Shehu, the president revealed that the news of the governorship aspirant’s death really devastated him.

According to the statement, “we are obviously devastated at the loss,” the president lamented stating that “he was immensely courageous.”

He consoled the bereaved family as well as the APC supporters who rooted for him during the elections while praying that Allah accept his soul in the yonder.

The Senate President also reacted to the tragic news via a statement put out by Yusuph Olaniyonu, his Special Adviser (Media and Publicity).

Saraki sent his condolences to the family of the late party member, the government and the people of Kogi state while extolling him in unequivocal terms.

He stated that Audu was a dogged and visionary leader that would be missed while expressing his great sadness over his tragic end.

Saraki recalled the intensity of purpose, drive and unshakable loyalty to the party the deceased had shown while he was alive.

“He (Audu) was selfless, steadfast and patriotic in his services to the people of Kogi State and beyond.

“He was a visionary and patriotic party faithful. All his life time, he lived for the people.

“His death is extremely painful but we cannot question the will of the Almighty Allah in the present sorrowful circumstances.

He also added that: “As Muslims, we have taken his death in good faith because we strongly believe that only God gives life and can as well take it when He wishes,” he stated.

The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Yakubu Dogara, likewise sent a condolence message to the grieving family.

He noted that the late Audu was one of the “strong pillars’ of the APC saying that his death was a shock to him and he still couldn’t come to terms with the reality.

The speaker also lamented the fact that Prince Audu did not live long to enjoy his ‘imminent victory’ in the polls he contested in on Saturday, November 21, even though it was declared inconclusive.

Speaking through his Special Adviser on Media and Public Affairs, Turaki Hassan, he said: “Prince Audu was a dogged fighter, grassroots mobiliser, leader and  politician par excellence, whose influence transcended the frontiers of Kogi State.

“I pray almighty God to grant his family and all his supporters the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss.”
