Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority, NCAA, may be enmeshed in a massive crisis soon following accusation and counter-accusation of fraud against the current management in the regulatory agency over collection of mast clearance charges.
A source close to the agency told our correspondent that an audit report has indicted the NCAA management over the payment of N699 million fine by a telecommunication company (name withheld) in Nigeria.

Airlines remit $5.57bn yearly from ticket sales in Nigeria…Telegraph
No fewer than 27 foreign airlines flying into Nigeria are remitting over $5.556 billion yearly from the sales of ticket, an aviation expert, Mr. Gbenga Olowo, president of Sabre Network (West Africa), has said. He noted that out of the 48,433 seats available in the international weekly flights from four airports in Lagos, Abuja, Port Harcourt and Kano, Arik Air controls only 3,889.

Senate flays AIPB on air accident reports…Punch
The Senate on Tuesday condemned the Accident Investigation and Prevention Bureau for keeping the reports of investigation into air crashes in the country from the public.
It described the tradition as counterproductive and not in accordance with best practices.
The upper chamber subsequently mandated its Committee on Aviation to thoroughly investigate the remote and immediate causes of the trend and report its findings to the Senate within two weeks.

The Minister of Transportation Rt. Hon Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi has said that the Federal Government has welcomed the planned citing of the World Meteorological Organisation (WMO) Africa region secretariat in Nigeria.

Counsel’s absence stalls Oduah’s fundamental right suit…Vanguard
A fundamental rights enforcement suit filed by a former Minister of Aviation, Mrs. Stella Oduah, was yesterday stalled due to the absence of her counsel, Mr. Ajibola Oluyede, in court.
Oduah sued the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission; the Independent Corrupt Practices and other related offences Commission; the Attorney General of the Federation; and the Inspector General of Police.
She is praying for an order restraining the defendants from probing her over the purchase of the two armoured BMWs by the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority under her watch in 2013.
