FRSC Boss Tells Lagos Residents To Move About With Bicycles To Reduce Traffic by morereb10: 6:45am On Nov 27, 2015 |
According to an article on Nigeria Camera website, the Corps Marshal and Chief Executive of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Mr. Boboye Oyeyemi has advocated the use of bicycles in some areas in Lagos. According to him, such would reduce daily traffic gridlocks. Oyeyemi said this at a one-day Transport Summit held in Lagos, where he urged the Lagos State government to fully implement the State Traffic Law 2012. Speaking, Governor, Akinwunmi Ambode said his government had strong political will to take tough decisions and implement effective strategies to bring about a robust traffic management system in the state. He also reiterated the need to empower traffic officials and install monitoring cameras at major road intersections to record traffic offenders, while advocated the use of bicycles as alternative means of transportation in some areas of the city to reduce traffic congestion. Ambode admitted that immediate solutions were needed to achieve future aspirations in respect of Lagos traffic. - See more at: http://www.exlinklodge.com/2015/11/frsc-boss-tells-lagos-residents-to-move.html#sthash.mrHTqnTg.dpuf cc lalasticlala

A very health friendly idea. But the problem is that motorists don't see bicycle users as fellow road users; even pedestrians hesitate to make way for bicycles. That's my first hand experience for using bicycle here in Owerri |

What is the govt doing to encourage people to ride bicycle or is it just one of those mere endtime suggestions that has no substance. So if I decide to park my car and ride on bike only to get splashed with dirty water due to bad roads what do I do? Endtime FRSC |

By the time they start counting the number of cyclists knocked down on daily basis by vehicles on the roads, no one will tell them to flush that thought out ASAP! |

kodded:Stop spamming with these hopeless lines. Bicycles are in used very well in Netherlands for this purpose, even their Prime Minister reportedly cycles to work. Lagos is too jammed. It's only commonsensical Lagosian embrace cycling. WombRaiders:The cost of transport using public means in a month is almost enough to buy a bicycle (if not enough). Or do you think they're referring to Bajaj motorcycle by saying bikes? |
