Stereotypes exist. Deal with it. Your interview starts from your dressing and your outward appearance. Granted nobody should be discriminated based on tattoo or piercing, but at least the company also has the right to select a worker based on their own criteria and in fact had more tact than that company in the UK that discriminated against braids that we recently heard about. If his tattoos and piercings were in places that could be easily concealed perhaps he may have landed the job. In summary, if you're not wizkid, don't tattoo your head

i was in the office yesterday when i saw alot of people who came for an interview as my working place was recruiting temporary staffs for a project. fortunately, my boss was one of interviewing panel. At the end of the interview, i overheard him in his office discussing with another man who is also a senior staff.

MY BOSS: one guy lost his chance of getting the offer today.

OTHER MAN: what happened?

MY BOSS: he answered questions intelligently, but Mrs Tosin noticed that he had holes pierced on his two ears and she asked him about the holes.

OTHER MAN: what was he response?.

MY BOSS: he was beating around the bush by saying he was once into entertainment before he decided to change his career. but when he left the office, we all agreed and decided that he won't get the job because he doesn't appear to be responsible with the holes on his ears. so, we can't trust him with the bank's funds.


I was so sad on hearing this and I felt like crying for the young man even though I didn't know him. To all the youths out there, please always think twice before your Pierce those ears and draw those tattoos because I have also seen someone who was dropped at interview stage because of a tattoo on her neck. thanks.

You know tattoos are not a bad thing, is the way is been portrayed today that is the problem, even our ancestors had tattoos (ULI) in igbo language i believe it means (correct me co's i may be wrong), i remember my grand mother rubbing ULI on her skin as a form of body decorations when i was a kid.

This days people are drawing all kinds of rubbish on their skin in the name of tattoo. I saw a guy the other day with a massive tattoo of a spider on his face. Man! That was petrifying

RUBBISH. I pierced my two ears and I work with a multinational. My boss has seen the hole and she only makes fun of me about them. If you have what they are looking for, pierced holes can't be a limitation to getting a job. It's not like u wore it to the interview.
