IPMAN Wants Petroleum Products Loading Decentralised From Lagos by Nobody: 5:50pm On Nov 29, 2015
Port Harcourt – The Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria (IPMAN), on Sunday, urged the Federal Government to decentralise loading of petroleum products to make for effective loading at depots across the country.
Chief Lawson Obasi, National President, IPMAN, told newsmen in Port Harcourt that spreading of petroleum products to other coastal depots across the country would end current scarcity.
He said that a situation where government only distributed petroleum products to tank farms in Lagos was partly responsible for current scarcity and high cost of product.
“The current government approach, where marketers across the country are expected to load petroleum products from only depots in Lagos state, is counter-productive.
“To solve current scarcity of fuel; government must decongest Lagos by sending petroleum products to coastal depots in Port Harcourt, Calabar and Warri.
“By decentralising supply and distribution from Lagos to other depots; it would become easier for IPMAN members to lift products and distribute to filling stations,” he said.
Obasi said that the current policy by government should be revised to enable marketers have unlimited access to petroleum products for distribution to final consumers.
He denied that marketers had hoarded products to deepen current scarcity to make more profit from sales.
According to him, the Pipelines Products Marketing Company (PPMC) should, as a matter of urgency, commence distribution of products to other depots in the South-South to end current fuel scarcity.

Honestly I cannot understand the way we reason in this country, how can everything be Lagos, Lagos for goodness sakes?

Why can we divert a great part of importations to Rivers & Warri.

Why has Nigeria decided to cage all of us in Lagos? Why must all of us go and queue up at Apapa?

This is a novel and brilliant idea. Am shocked it came of the top of the brain of an oil marketer. We have other ports in Nigeria, and we can even dredge some of our rivers to create more. So why should Lagos have a monopoly on the shipping and docking of ships transporting crude and refined petroleum. This is why we have vigorously campaigned for the passing of the PIB. So that the monopoly that has plagued down the oil sector will be ended and so, become a thing of the past. And if Mr President, does not change one thing in our oil sector, especially the subsidy issue and the PIB, then I will be forced to pitch my tent with the school of thought that claims that the President is an active beneficiary of the scam and sleeze that exists in the oil sector, and so sought the office of the President of FRN as a means to protect his investments.

There is currently a siege on Nigeria which Stella oduah tried to break in the Aviation industry and was persecuted severely for it.

If the industry is deregulated and subsidy removed petroleum products would be like the telecommunications services which is made available to every part of the country but the forces of retrogression holding the country ransom don't see any reason for it.

Na we talk se make God give una beach side or riverine port location? Lagos has natural port. Let your governors do something with their large allocations from Oil. No body is even talking about probing Uduaghan and other SS criminals. When you recover their loot, use it to dredge your so called port. Stop the jealousy outrage. Na Godwin for we indigenous Lagosians.

Ambode should do something about decongesting Apapa.

Nigeria was structured to proper into private pockets. It was all personal nothing of national interest.

RIP Nigeria. You shall be remembered in the annals of history as that country with all the resources and manpower to be world best yet struggled with providing the basic sustenance of human existence. You will serve as very bad example for future generations.

And may everyone that contributed to this die a thousand deaths.

It is simple, ibaka seaport, PH seaport, light transportation from Anambra to Niger state then tankers can distribute to the Northern states.
