Seven students died and 25 others were injured in an inferno that gutted a girls’ school hostel in Kano.
The incident, which occurred in the late hours on Sunday night, razed the hostel of Government Girls Secondary School, Jogana in Gezawa Local Government of Kano State.

The Kano State Deputy Governor, Professor Hafiz Abubakar, confirmed the deaths and the inferno.
He disclosed that he had already visited the scene of the incidence and the hospitals where the victims were receiving treatment.
He expressed government’s condolences to families of the victims, assuring them that government will pay the medical bill of the affected students.

Abubakar, who doubles as Commissioner of Education, directed for immediate closure of the school to enable the students and the parents manage the trauma.
