Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, yesterday declared APC candidate, Mr Eric Dakogol, winner of last Saturday’s bye-election held for the Qua’an Pan north constituency of Plateau State.

Until the election, the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, had majority seats in the state House of Assembly with 13 members as against APC’s 11.

But with Dakogol’s victory at the poll, PDP has lost its majority position as both parties now have 12 seats each in the 24 member assembly.

National Mirror reports that Qua’an Pan state constituency became vacant, when Mr Godfrey who was elected into the office during the last general election under the platform of the PDP died about two months ago, prompting INEC fill the vacant seat by bye election held on Saturday, November 28, 2015.

Two parties, the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, and the All Progressives Congress, APC, fielded candidates in the keenly contested election conducted in the five wards that makes up the constituency.

The INEC Returning Officer, Professor Akkarven Ashakah, who announced the result at the Legislators’ Chamber in Qua’an Pan Local Government Secretariat yesterday, in the presence of National Commissioner, Professor Anthonia Simbini, State REC, Dr Godwin Kwanga, party officials and other stakeholders said that Mr Dakogol of the APC polled 5,409 votes to defeat the PDP candidate, Mr Alloy Oliver who scored 4, 771 votes

According to the INEC Returning Officer, the results was arrived at after determining the performances of the two candidates in the five wards that make up the constituency which shows that in Doemak/Kolang ward, PDP scored 1, 019 votes while APC polled 1,079 votes.

Others include Kwang ward: PDP 955 votes, APC 951 votes; Kwa ward: PDP 1, 063 votes, APC – 1,744 votes; Doemak/Goechim ward: PDP 834 votes, APC 629 votes; and Dokan Kasuwa ward: PDP 900 votes, APC 1, 006 votes

PDP can hardly win any election without rigging. PVC and card reader have exposed all their past riggings.

Imagine that a party that used to record turnout of 90% and get 95% of votes is suddenly finding it extremely difficult to win local council elections even in their so-called stronghold areas!

I dey laugh oooo

PDP should swallow the humble pie and go thru thorough re-orientation if they want to be a relevant political party because in a free and fair political process, i doubt their chances.

They know the game is over and serious business was ushered in, the day PMB was declared the winner.
PDP loosing elections since PMB took over the throne. Let them sit back and enjoy the pains of an ordinary opposition party in a Nigerian political economy

Let all the stolen mandates by PDP led government be collected through the rule of law whether by APC or any party. The days of electing people through uwuruwuru (undemocratic means) must be checked justly by this government

No body is turning Nigeria into a one party system. The question you and your likes should be asking is whether or not these people came into power through the ballot box If not, PMB must show them the way out asarp
