President Muhammadu Buhari will leave Abuja for South Africa today to participate in the Forum on China/Africa Cooperation (FOCAC) in Johannesburg where he will ask China’s President Xi Jinping to fund rail and power projects urgently needed to diversify an economy hit hard by a plunge in oil prices.

The President would be accompanied by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Geoffrey Onyema; Minister of Transportation, Chubuike Amaechi; and the Minister of Industry, Trade and Investment, Okechukwu Enelamah to the forum which would commence on December 4 and end on December 5.

A statement by the presidential spokesman, Mr. Femi Adesina, stated that during the meeting in New York, President Buhari had indicated to Xi Jinping that “he wanted China to re-commence stalled rail projects under new terms that would see China .......... read more http://africaonline.cc/index.php/2015/12/03/again-buhari-leaves-for-overseas-today-as-nations-security-challenges-continue-to-grow/

Must this man travel to South Africa for him to seek the assistance of China in those areas?
Is there no other channel of asking for assistance for projects in the country?
What are the ministers and ambassadors for?
Talk about lack of love for one's country...

The topics to be discussed with China's leader are developmental projects that will transform the lives of tens of millions of Nigerians and create hundreds of thousands of jobs.

You may be unhappy about Buhari's frequent travels, but this trip is essential. It is not every time you criticize blindly without sense because of partisan politics. Anyone complaining about this trip either does not have Nigeria's interest at heart or is suffering from mental or spiritual problems.

...and no. He cannot delegate a meeting of this magnitude.

Why don't you even suggest Skype call or FaceTime while you're at it?

Not everything that you must play childish politics with. The proposed Lagos - Calabar rail project alone is projected to add 200000 jobs and you're here complaining

Since 2005 they be talking of this rail.. I remember obj estimated 80b dollars needed to link every state capital with rail. Also the west Africa pipeline to link all west Africa to transport crude by pipe. Also rail line to run from Morocco down to Lagos which were all signed then. Can someone point to single one that was even done up to half..? 6 good years gej spend on the rail stuff.. Only 50% Abuja to Kaduna was achieved... We a jocker in this country.. True federalism or every one to his tribe as a country

The ipod group.are the ones responsible for all this lamentations. They dont want to see Nigeria move forward hence they can easily carry out the mischievous acts. Little wonder they supported Jonathan to their death cos they knew he was destroying Nigeria faster than lightening
