APC IN KHANA LGA, RIVERS STATE INAUGURATES COMMITTEES AHEAD Of RERUN ELECTIONS, KICK OFF MEMBERSHIP REGISTRATION/REVALIDATION

The Khana Local Government Area Chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) today held its Congress meeting in preparation for the rerun election in Rivers State. Highlights of the meeting were inauguration of various committees in readiness for the rerun elections scheduled to hold in 60days as directed by the various appeal court verdicts on National Assembly elections.
The event also featured the formal flag off of the party’s membership registration and re-validation exercise ahead of the takeoff tomorrow 14/12/2015. Various Party stalwarts while addressing the gathering charged all members to wholeheartedly begin an aggressive membership drive to register any genuine person with a valid PVC who intends to join the wind of change blowing across the country.
Speaking at the inauguration ceremony, Dr. Dakuku Peterside, gubernatorial candidate of the party describing Khana as his home, thanked the people for standing by him all through the period of the tribunal. He urged the people to remain steadfast that INEC will conduct a rerun election in Rivers state in the shortest possible time. In his words " let us sweep away their command-and-control state, the bureaucracy, the regional government, which is not bringing real change in our state". " No responsible government will withdraw our children from schools abroad, no responsible government will sack 300 workers a day, no responsible government will borrow one billion per day for 30 days & continue to borrow while the state languish in poverty and pains".
Sen. Magnus Abe also thanked the people for their continued prayers and steadfastness during the tribunal period which led to his success at the appeal. Describing Khana people as unshakable in their resolve to supporting the APC.
He told the crowd of party faithful’s at the event to keep their PVCs save & secured that they will have the opportunity to elect their representatives in less than 60 days.
Mr. George D.N Feyii, thanked God for not allowing illegality and nullifying the sham called elections in Rivers State. He said APC has its roots in Khana and that the People of the area are prepared to show Rivers People and indeed the world that they belong to APC.
Similarly, The Executive Chairman of the LGA, Hon. Celestine Akpobari said Khana is a pride and reference point among all other LGAs in the states and is ready at all times to vote for the APC. He thanked the crowd of APC faithfuls for their large turnout for the event.
Describing APC's victory at the various Appeal courts as an eloquent testimony that elections in Rivers State were not conducted in accordance with the electoral act & INEC rules guiding the conduct of elections in the country. Mr. Akpobari
The Chairman of the party in Khana, Chief E.S Nwibani charged those newly inaugurated committee members to be steadfast and committed to working for the success of the party at the polls. The party Chairman said "we need a government that will improve our economy, create jobs, improve education & guarantee safety of lives and properties." "We need a representative who can present & protect our interest at all times, a representative that will remain in constant touch with the people at the grassroots, thank God the opportunity to choose that representative is here again".
Highlights of the meeting were solidarity speeches from the three districts of the LGA.
Comrade Menele Nziidee who spoke on behalf of the people of Nyokhana said "We must all put our personal interests aside and work together for the common good of the party". "We have a responsibility to ensure that our party wins squarely in our units".
Dr. Befii Nwile who conveyed the solidarity message of the Ken-Khana people said "we won't play politics with the long-term future of our children and dear state." He described our candidates as the best product that can be unveiled in any market and you will get a rush.
While Hon. Gordon Tornwe who spoke for the people of Babbe, said "I am very confident that our candidates possess the needed leadership to represent us, therefore I have no doubt that our party will emerge victorious at all levels in the coming rerun elections". He guaranteed the party that the Babbe people will deliver 100% votes to the APC.
Similarly, Chief Akaraka Nwanze, the President of non-indigenes in Ogoniland whilst speaking at the event reassured the party candidates of the readiness of all non-indigenes in Khana in working for the success of the party in the rerun.
The meeting had in attendance Chf. Joseph Bapeb, Chf. Anthony Gua, Chf. LGA Korsi, Hon. J.T Nwi-ue, Hon. Emma Deeyah, Hon. Austin Nwakoh, Dr. Namene Loolo, Evang. Caroline Nagbo, Hon. Befii Nwile, Hon. Sunny Nwiyor, Hon. Martins Nwigbo, Hon. Gordon Tornwe, Hon. Hycient Nwiyee, Hon. Pepson Gonee, Hon. Mene Derek, Hon. Legbo Kuku amongst others.
Hon. Legborsi Nwidadah, House of Assembly candidate for Khana Constituency 1, and Hon. Friday Nke-ee, Candidate for Khana Constituency 2 seat in the House of Assembly whilst speaking both thanked the people for their prayers and support all through the period of the tribunals. They described the tribunal rulings nullifying the elections as an act of God.
