Awka—Anambra State Government says it will soon employ about 5,000 rice workers  in its farms located across the state.
Governor  Willie Obiano said during a town hall meeting with stakeholders of the ruling All Progressive Grand Alliance, APGA, in Awka  South Local Government Area of the state, yesterday that it was in fulfilment of his campaign promises to create job opportunities for the youths of the state, as well as invest massively in agriculture.
He said that in the next few months, the state would not only have enough rice for domestic consumption, but would export the product, adding that there was  already a cluster of investors in the state for rice production.
“We are just counting days when we shall export Anambra rice,” the governor said, adding that his administration had exceeded his campaign promise of attracting N2 billion investments yearly to the state.

This is what every SE Governor should do.... We should leave Nigeria and its Crude oil drunkenness, even as we have the oil

l have been involved in rice farming in the state & can boldly say the potential is huge. The governor should invest in small-scale threshers movable with wheelbarrows likewise hand-held fuel powered harvesters, it will crash the cost of production.

Now this is a governor that knows what governance is about, not my Ajimobi

This is what happens when you have a governor that has pride and believe in self sustainability... Every State should look inward to create jobs and increase IGR from it's natural resources.

Thanks to the man who thinks outside the charade of going to Abuja every month for cash. If the governor continues in this direction,Anambra will be the glory of Nigeria by 2020.

While other governors are falling over each other for the illegal bail out fund,Obiano never joined them.
While other governors are threatening that they can no longer sustain the #18,000 monthly stipends given to workers as minimium wage, Obiano rather increased Anambra state minimium wage to #22,000.
While some governors are threatening our suffering workers with retrenchment,Obiano is rather planning to employ more.
While others are thinking oil,he is thinking Agriculture.
It is really the best time to be an Anambrarian!!!

my brother,say what you know. I am a civil servant with Anambra state and as much as I must commend the Obiano led govt,the pay we receive is low compared to other States in the country. Even Ebonyi state pays better than Anambra state but we are hopeful that once the governor gets to it's #3billion IGR/month he will do more as he promised.

It is not true. The rice to be shared is available and will be made available to civil servants by next week.

it will be cocharis rice with Anambra logo on it. that's what I heard though.

Gov. Obiano need to be commended and encourage to do more for the Youth. At least if 5000 comot 4rm street enter company dey hustle and month end u smile to bank 2 grab d cash.
