What Crisis? De Gea Plays Down Rumours Of Dressing Room Revolt At Manchester by Youngloaded(m): 6:23pm On Dec 16, 2015
There have been murmurs of discontent around Old Trafford this season, with Louis van Gaal’s philosophy winning few fans, but the Spaniard insists the squad are in good spirits. David de Gea insists the entire Manchester United dressing room are “all very happy” despite rumours of growing discontent towards Louis van Gaal and his philosophy.

The Red Devils have not won any of their last five games, with their Champions League elimination at the hands of Wolfsburg compounded by a shock 2-1 defeat away to Bournemouth.

That led to reports that some of United’s big-name players were growing frustrated by their manager’s style of play and training methods, while Van Gaal himself admitted earlier this season that Wayne Rooney and Michael Carrick had come to him complaining that the players felt “flat”.

But, despite their poor form in recent weeks, De Gea says the United team are still united and is convinced that the positive mood that still exists in the dressing room will be key to a title challenge.

“There’s a great atmosphere,” the Spanish shot-stopper, who very nearly joined Real Madrid in the summer, told club magazine Inside United.

“The dressing room is very together and united, they are a great set of lads and we’re all very happy with the group of players that we have and I think that’s really important in a team if it wants to achieve big things.

“I think we have a very young side and I think that the youngsters who are coming up through the youth ranks are fitting in really well.

“They are all good players and after all they represent the future of Manchester United and I reckon that gradually they will become the side of the future and we’re all delighted that they’re with us.

“We know that the month of December is always a tough one with a lot of fixtures, and the tiredness can build up, so we need to come out of it at the end with a few good results. We’re working on it right now.

“We’re training hard and we’re preparing well so we can go into those games at our highest level of fitness in order to get through December well-placed near the top of the league.”
