The Heart of Love has long been sore

And longer it’s likely to be

In love, the heart is at the fore

In love? A while, it will thrill thee

When my first way to love, I took

Few arsenals in my armoury, had I

Putto shot his arrow, struck; I shook

Painfully pleasurable – I can’t cry

Oh! Cupid’s cloud- baroque

Yet, this path, I will ply


Now times are altered, no worry

The thrills are no frills- work!

Yet, Cupid retains its South African flavour- curry

The Heart of Love heals and dances- twerk!
