Yeah, I'm thinking we could do something big with the Unreal engine and make an African game with an amazing story line. Have a main character that draws his powers from the Ancient Gods.

It would be so cool, it would be a big thing for us Nigerians and many people I can tell you worldwide would want to play it.

I'm not much of a game developer, I'm aspiring. I'm a Computer Scientist though, I have never made a simple game besides breakout, or tic-tac-toe my entire life. Thank you sir.

Breakout and tic-tac-toe is a start,I'm a computer scientist too with a focusing on networking. Sir? Far from it.

I have a strong focus on Networking as well I have helped with some CCNA tutorials on NL. But you know, I believe as Computer Scientists, it's so good to be well-rounded. Our field is so vast.

We have programming, we have networking, we have network security (yes, it can be treated as a separate subject now from Networking), embedded Systems which is a sub-category of programming, etc. etc. Computer Science (like many other Engineering and Applied Science fields) is extremely vast.

Yes, very vast but I believe in focusing on an aspect. Currently studying to take my Ccna cert exams early next year, and hopefully proceed to ccnp.

Wow! Ccnp too? I stil have about 8 topics left to cover and beginning to develop exam fear. I'm pratically doing self study even though I go to a training center. How was it like? Did you practice with dumps?

I did not use dumps, dumps are a very bad way of attempting to learn the material. You may get a passmark with them, but it's not advised (by me), because you won't learn anything that you can use on the job. I'm able to teach others on NL the material because I genuinely learned the material (subnetting, routing protocols, routing tables, layer 2 switching, layer 3 dynamic and static routing, etc. etc.) It's always more refreshing when you learn the material. I got a 933/1000. Don't be in a rush, you will know when you are ready. A good place to practise is the Cisco LearningNetwork found here:

Some people from my understanding also used Boson practise exams to study, don't know how they managed to get that in Nigeria seeing as it is an American product. I have also heard good things about INE. I personally used Wendell Odom's e-books and videos from Kevin Wallace and CBT nuggets that I found online.

I have been dreaming of an adventure with Sango as the main character. I remember as kid passing by the Sango statue in Front of NEPA building at Marina Lagos Island, I would look at it nose passed against glass, in awe, I wished for stories that expressed the power and might represented in that statue. This reminds me of a friend who was able to modify Mortal Kombat 3 ultimate on PC by modifying the sprites and Audio files. Using the character Rayden, he modified him to look like a Babalawo and named him SANGO. When the deep voice says ROUND ONE, FIGHT. you will hear the character say YOUR HEAD HAS SPOILT in yoruba. The special move was shooting a large charge of electricity from his hands while shouting SANGOOOOO.
It was hilarious.

That's cool, but why don't you want to focus on a particular field. I tried learning programming but, I had no flair for it so I gave networking a shot and I'm enjoying it, if I had gone for networking right from the onset, I would have been working towards ccie now.

I feel that Networking will always be around, but automating networking processes will be more common in the future years. the Cisco CLI is slowly dying out in favour of GUI (which anyone can do). Programming will never die out! There will always be a need for new software, whether it's just a general application, an application that runs an embedded system, writing software for smart cars and hybrids, etc. etc.

I also think that being well-rounded is a very good thing in today's modern world. Being able to work with every I.T. specialised dept is important. I can speak to any Network Engineer, Systems Engineer, Software Engineer and be able to understand what they are talking about. That's the importance of being solidified in many areas.

Sure I may never be as knowledgeable as say a CCIE, or an RHA (Red Hat Architect) or a Software Engineer with 25 years experience (that's almost as old as I am), but I like having that knowledge base my brother.

How about this! The white men came to Africa. With their take-all-you-can attitude, they have decided to loot our special relics. This is so wrong - who do these crackers think they are? Our relics must be returned! The crackers responsible must pay (by any means necessary!). One negro has decided to take this quest personal. He will not rest until the white man know who is god (5 percenters). And so on and so forth.

I just graduated (CS major) from UNIUYO and I have been playing with C++ for some time now. I certainly like this idea and would contribute in any way I can.
