We are a Building Construction,Civil Engineering and Project Management Company. We are Rich Ruler Limited and we are being run by Young Dynamic Engineers and Builders.
This is about a recent project that (is yet to be handed over to the end users) has been handed over in January 2016. It is about how we built/are building Olabisi Onabanjo University, (OOU) Radio Station. We are the main sub-contractor as a bigger and well known construction company is the main contractor.
Questions,Criticisms etc are welcomed.
I hope someone can learn a thing or two from our processes and methods. We are also still learning and improving.

What do you actually want us to do? Where is the ( proposed) station located within the campus? Have you started the contruction work?

The Construction site is located within OOU's permanent campus behind the Mass Communication Department.
Site Clearing was done in a day and grubbing was done the next day in preparation for setting out and excavation.

Foundation type was Strip and Pads, structure is a bungalow. The basic construction was the building itself that housed the main and live studios, offices, control room, toilets etc and a telecommunication mast for the transmitter and antenna.
Setting out was done in 3days as there were level differences not captured in the survey and because we believe if we make mistakes here it could continue and the end users might live with it for as long as the building exists, so we take our time in setting out.

Excavation in progress. We had 21 columns with the maximum span being about 6m. 1 of the reasons for the columns and foundation type is the presence of Roof Drainage (gutter) for rain water collection and for AC water collection too.

Installation and alignment of pad bases and columns into respective locations. Notice Concrete covers also known as biscuits on the floor to be used for increased protection against fire, corrosion and the elements.
Our foundation cover was 50mm as site conditions were judged to be mild or moderate.

A couple of photographs are not available for now. Will locate them and update later, for the substructure basically I.e the foundational blocks and concrete filling as the difference between the natural ground floor levels in the front and at the rear end of the site is about 1.5m.
After the foundational blocksetting, we filled the hollow spaces of the blocks with concrete for rigidity and to increase stiffness.
Next, we backfilled the excavated laterite and compacted in stages using the density of water to our advantage before mechanical compaction.
We didn't use a damp proof course as the height difference was quite remarkable as I earlier noted and the terrain is such that the water table cannot be encountered even if you dig to 10m, so we figured rising damp isn't an issue.

After the mechanical compaction, we laid boulders, took levels again, installed side formworks using locally available wood called Somi from Ijebu Igbo then spread mesh wire A142 over which we the cast the groud floor slab.

Weldone boss, I luv the way u dig your earth pit and with the kind of square method of driven the earth rod.

Quick question sir:
Did u use industrial salt called marconite because the whitish coulour seems different from marconite colour

2) I can see that the copper tape has been fixed. Is it not important to do the plastering before running the copper tape since it is not advisable to cover it with plastering cement. Stand to be corrected my oga.

Thanks.

Thanks Boss, we didn't use marconite as we already tested our earth pit even before applying any charcoal and we had good resistance as we had 2 different loops round d building and round d tower connected together.
We eventually had it installed after plastering, good observations. I'm quite hopeful we'll work together soon.
