A Tale of Old Enemies: How Dasuki arrested Buhari at Gun point in the 1985 Palace Coup

In August 1985, the evening of the 26th to be specific, at a time when Nigerians were celebrating the Muslim festival and enjoying the public holiday, a soldier named Major-General Badamasi Babangida (IBB) was executing his plans of overthrowing the Nigerian Head of State, Major-General Muhammadu Buhari.

One of the soldiers who arrested Buhari at gunpoint was a soldier named Major SAMBO DASUKI!

After Buhari was arrested and his government toppled, IBB threw him into prison and handsomely rewarded Dasuki by making him his ADC (aide-de-camp) and had his father fraudulently made the Sultan of Sokoto.

Sambo Dasuki was one of the four Nigerian army Majors that arrested Buhari at gunpoint that day.

Others were Abubakar Dangiwa Umar, Lawan Gwadabe, Abdulmumuni Aminu.
Buhari was left to rot in jail for two years and this wrecked his family life so bad that it led to a divorce with Safinatu, his beloved wife upon his release.

While Buhari was also in jail, Babangida sent soldiers to ransack and vandalize his residence, in the process destroying some of Buhari’s most valuable credentials including Original Educational Certificates and valuables.

Dasuki was appointed as the National Security Adviser to President Jonathan. Dasuki wrote a letter to INEC claiming Nigerian security can’t provide security for election, citing boko haram as excuse.
Dasuki was recently refused resignation by Buhari and now DSS claims to have recovered incriminating evidence from Dasuki suspecting he wanted to topple Buhari’s democratic government.

The feud between Dasuki and Buhari has a trail in our history. We hope someone is not settling old scores.

President Muhammadu Buhari has ordered the arrest of the former National Security Adviser, Col Sambo Dasuki (retd)

President Muhammadu Buhari has ordered the arrest of the former National Security Adviser, Col Sambo Dasuki (retd)
over his involvement in the procurement of arms and equipment in the Armed Forces and Defence sector from 2007 to date.

Operatives of the Department of State Services, DSS, has continued to lay siege to the Abuja residence of the former NSA, against the directives of a Federal High Court.

Justice Adeniyi Ademola of the Federal High Court, Abuja, had on Friday reacted angrily to the siege on Mr. Dasuki’s house despite an earlier ruling he gave permitting the retired colonel to travel abroad for medical treatment.

“My own orders will not be flouted” the judge said on Friday, while re-iterating his stance that the former security chief be allowed to travel for medical treatment.
