Instead of our governors to be visionary like this, and also, we holding them accountable, we're complaining about the FG. Kudos to LASG for this initiative.

Yes.

IPOB Youth line of thinking

Infrastructure built on Yorubaland has nothing to do with Yorubas

A project facilitated by the Lagos State Government has nothing to do with Yorubas

Why Dutch, British? I thought it was 100% owned by IPOB youths?

To be fair, a similar project is going on in Enugu - the Centenary City project. But Eko Atlantic is on a more massive scale though.

Some of the comments here tho, it seems it's the 1st time a lot of people got to hear about this, anyways I think far back as Former Gov. Fasholas 1st term was when this project began, I really wished back then that it would get completed before he left office, it's been a long time tho, nice idea, Eko atlantic with it's own roads, railways, airspace, loads of malls, creating a larger and more business focused lagos island, the same way Marina is for some companies and banks, anyways let me enjoy the comments bwing made here, so funny, seems we have a lot of 15, 17 years old who were btw 6-8 years old when this project started hence their funny response, even blaming Op asking how does this reduce the price of petrol, lol

Interesting

What experience and qualifications do you have sir?

If you are so concerned and knowledgeable, why have you not voiced your concerns to the appropriate bodies?

You think there is a scarcity of scientists on the team that developed and are implementing the project?

And who asked you if you are Yoruba? who cares?

Leave trash for Lawma abeg
Sorry, but u weren't d one that I quoted. I don't need to have much qualifications to know that such would happen, this is just basic fluid mechanics (water resources engineering)

Thats what you miss. The price of land is minute and inconsequential to government compared to opportunities.

These guys constructing won't bring foreigners to build, they will employ people locally. Those construction workers will eat, commute, buy recharge card, pay taxes and that way, a lot of jobs are created and wealth is spread.

When theu companies start, they will employ Nigerians. They are creating jobs, they will pay tax, a lot of them will endorse entertainers, some will sponsor events like sports and upcoming sportsmen and women.

They will set up manufacturing plants and employ people and even if they dont export, we reduce what we import hence making the economy better.

This is not about land or who owns most of the property but the fact that those who buy and build will be adding value to the local economy

I agree with the poster, yoruba has nothing to do with Eko Atlanti, it is purely a British, US and Dutch venture.

They are indeed building a tax free haven.

Would you have said the same thing if it was being built in your village? Yoruba have always been the pace setters of such development in Nigeria and sub-sahara Africa. First Television, first large-capacity stadium,Cocoa house, free education, first Medical Doctor, first lawyer, e t c. Just give it to Omo Odua, the pace setters ! Even if the project is owned by the Germans,is Lagos the only state with access to the Atlantic ocean? #leavetrashforthelawma nah !

Altho I'm yoruba, this project has adverse effects later cos the water would still reclaim d land back due to the gradually increasing hydrostatic pressure unless there is an outlet (which must be big enough). But an outlet channel for water ain't feasible since it is water from the ocean.
who cares if you are yoruba
why don't you be Chinese today and then return to ibo tomorrow

Exactly why do you people migrate to poverty land to make a living and feed your family?

Don't you know when people are poor, they obviously have no money and you can not make any money from them so exactly why do you keep going there and even.

It is the other way around, you are poor and you migrate to rich places with disposable income for your daily bread and survival..

This basic common sense...

so the Britains that came to Nigeria to colonize her are poor... #commonsenseain'tcommon

The price of one square metre of land in Eko Atlantic city is between $1,500 and $2,200. How many of you here can afford it? And just so you know, your average room size is about 12 square metres.

As far as I am concerned, Eko Atlantic is a total waste of time, money and efforts. There are so many lands to be developed onshore, why go offshore? The money could have been spent fixing other infrastructures like multiple railway lines from the mainland to the Island - VI, Ajah, Lekki.., the 4th mainland bridge etc.

Similar in the sense that both new cities are 21st century cities. Eko Atlantic will accommodate more residents though - around 250,000.

EA was not designed for poor people and we are not under any illusion that this is a project for low income people so quit trying to rope us in emotionally..

Fact is, the folks involved have done a million and one assessments from financial, structural, infrastructural, environmental assessments and so on before investing their billions so you as a layman with zero knowledge per anyting about the project are not in any sane and rational position to question their judgement or how they spend their money or even what they spend it on..

This is a private investment and private investors are not responsible for public infrastructures like roads, bridges, railways and all that, that's the responsibility of the state governments or federal government.

Obviously, you know little or nothign about this project to start with..
