African players - from three countries - have won the personal accolade. Goal presents the seven Africans to have won the EPL Player of the Month title

Anthony Yeboah Leeds United September 1995
Austin Okocha Bolton Wanderers November 2003
Peter Odemwingie West Bromwich Albion September 2010
Peter Odemwingie West Bromwich Albion April 2011
Demba Ba Newcastle United December 2011
Peter Odemwingie West Bromwich Albion February 2012
Diafra Sakho West Ham United October 2014
Andre Ayew Swansea August 2015
Odion Ighalo of Watford

Anthony Yeboah (Ghana) | Leeds United, March and September 1995: The Ghanaian striker had a very illustrious time at Elland Road, where he scored 32 goals in 66 appearances over two seasons. His second Premier League Player of the Month award came in September 1995 after he scored a hat trick against Wimbledon.

Austin 'Jay Jay' Okocha (Nigeria) | Bolton Wanderers, November 2003: The Nigerian midfielder was "so good that they named him twice" and he proved it during his time at Bolton. In his second season, Okocha took up the captain's armband and helped Bolton to stay in the Premier League. Despite not scoring too many goals in his time there, he was named Player of the Month for November 2003 due to his all round play as Bolton went four matches without defeat, winning three.

Peter Odemwingie (Nigeria) | West Bromwich Albion, September 2010: Following his move to England after the 2010 World Cup, Odemwingie won his first of three Player of the Year awards in September 2010 after leading Bolton to a famous 3-2 defeat of Arsenal at the Emirates

Peter Odemwingie (Nigeria) | West Bromwich Albion, April 2011: Odemwingie scored four goals in five matches in April 2011 to win his second Player of the Month award. It would not be his last though...

Demba Ba (Senegal) | Newcastle United, December 2011: With five goals in six matches, Senegalese striker Demba Ba was the toast of England as he was named Player of the Month in a packed year-end schedule.

Peter Odemwingie (Nigeria) | West Bromwich Albion, February 2012: It was the third win for Odemwingie in February 2012, a very rewarding month where he notched five goals in four games, with a famous hat trick coming against Wolverhampton Wanderers.

Diafra Sakho (Senegal) | West Ham United, October 2014: It would be two more years before another African won the award. Diafra Sakho scored three goals in three victories for West Ham in October, the most famous being the winning goal in a 2-1 triumph over Manchester City.

Andre Ayew (Ghana) | Swansea, August 2015: A classic case of hitting the ground running, Andre Ayew's move from Marseille in the summer yielded quick fruits for Swansea who opened their campaign with a 2-2 draw against holders Chelsea and then a 2-0 win against Newcastle. Ayew scored in both games before notching a third in the 2-1 defeat of Manchester United to earn himself the Player of the Month title ahead of team mate Bafetimbi Gomis.

Odion Ighalo (Nigeria) | Watford, December 2015: Odion Ighalo underlined his impressive first season in the Premier League by scoring five goals in five matches in December, including a brace in Watford's 3-0 demolition of Liverpool. Despite being denied of a strike against Chelsea which has been listed as a Gary Cahill own goal, it was no surprise when he was named Premier League Player of the Month.
