Have you guys wondered this?I mean be it any form,rice occupies a special slot when planning for sunday meals.

Rice is an everyday occurence as far as the Nigerian diet is concerned.

LOL, for real especially Nigerians. I don't know any other nationalities who do that.

Not all Nigerians in the US do it though but we definitely do it in my house. cheesy

Back then, Rice used to be an exotic meal in Nigeria.
Rice during christmas, easter, new year was a MUST-HAVE.
It's the unity between neighbors, gift of friendship and warm welcome.

Nowadays, rice is like wah-eva undecided

~Back home, Rice is The No.1 Staple food. . . it's like the norm to eat Cooked/Boiled Rice Every Day!! So Sunday is no Biggie!  grin

~On a serious note tho,it aint by choice most people eat rice daily. . .Given the choice tho,there's a large percentage who wont find anything more fullfilling like Rice!! Not Me! grin

~There is this family friend who wud have Rice for Breakfast ~Lunch ~Dinner!! 7 days week,how many days in the year? Yeah . . .365 days. . . .  cheesy ~It's like an insult giving/offering him anything else other than Rice!

Rice on sunday afternoons was something to always look up to.The stew/jollof is specail and diffrent from everyday rice, . .back in the days sha.

true especially after Sunday Mass and Legion of Mary.
after mass, my mom usually goes home to boil rice (and make stew if she didn't do that the night before). while i stay for Legion of Mary . . . during the hail Mary, i will be thinking of that rice and stew grin

Poster, u be correct thinker. I must say that 80% of Ibo/Yoruba tribes cook Rice on Sundays.

Rice on sundays? Not always the case. In most homes, Its rather tea and bread with fried plaintain in the morning, garri with soup in the afternoon and maybe rice and stew in the evening.

Same here, I thought I was I was the only one, most sundays it is rice and beef stew.

maybe because sunday is very activitious. so you just come home to easy prep rice and stew. who want to slave in the kitchen after mass or prayers, worship, sing, preaching then closing? wink

so Toyosi, you maybe right.

i used to love sunday rice. right now Rice don't have much respect for my side grin
