The followings are the reasons the north seems to be more united than the south: 1.HAUSAS:they are the only major ethnic groups that is up north unlike the south where we have igbos and yorubas. 2.POVERTY:this is one the engine room behind the unity of the northern nigeria over the south,the wealthy ones among them easily manipulates the poor. 3.ISLAM:religion is one the factors that binds a group of people together,unlike the south who are mainly christians and muslims. 4.ILLITRACY:this is undisputedly one of the factors behind the unity of the north.the literate ones among them can easily manipulate the illitrate ones,it's not so in the south because they are mostly educated. 5.THE SARDAUNA:this is one of the advantages of the sardauna to the north,he co-ordinates the emirs and the emirs in turn co-ordinate the people especially the muslim ones but it can't be said of the south because every one is OYO. Op there are a lot of indigenous language in the north its just that d husas are strong politically and they use religion they subdue others. Gbagi, Nupe, kanuri and others are more in numbers up north. Most of them have abandon their language for hausas. Islam has wiped off their cultures. But down south especially in South east ones culture is ones identity. |
