Nurses running away? And they'll be forming we should be paid equally/more than doctors. Any doctor who avoids a sick patient under his/her care earns immediate dismissal

Government should do something meaningful to stop this threats to life; and doctors and nurses running at the slightest threats.

I don't understand, why do these writers derive joy from making sensational headlines by defaming the nursing profession? What did they ever do wrong? I read the write up and I can't even see any reasonable pointer to a nurse running or what bullshit this is.

This lassa fever shld not be treated with kid's glove and all necessary protective equipment shld be made available to health professionals to protect themselves, while caring for the patients.

shocked

I understand sharing confidential medical report with the press is often a daunting task. But I keep disbelieving what the CMD have been saying in the report.

For Fvcck sake...if the current administrator of the ministry of health not having the clue how to manage this outbreak, let's see help from the more informed brain from developed nations. we can't keep up with pride while the citizens keep dying from avoidable death.

Ministry of health, Ministry of information, parastatals for environment, disaster management and control, etc ,pharmaceuticals etc all should have by now sprung into full blown action with daily sensitisation, prevention, education of the general public and not just once off press statement portraying them as clueless how to combat the scourge.

no week without a tax payer dying of this disease..its unacceptable.

During d reign of HIV/AIDS Apes were accused, but we were not too worried cos apes live in d bush n it was not contacted by body contact but by fluid contact with d carriers; Ebola came and d blame was on fruit bats, apes n bush meat; we were not too worried cos d fruit bats n apes belong to d bush n are wildlife despite d fact dat Ebola can b contacted via body contact with d fluid of d carriers; now it is Mr Lassa fever n every finger points at rat dat is man's pet n closest neighbour n d worst is that it can be contacted via contaminated water, food n from man to man. God where are we to hide cos Nigerians believe dat "disease no dey kill poor man" n can eat without restriction? Let us b careful.

grin grin grin grin why the Nurses no go flee? No protective gears, no ribavarin drugs in hospitals, and one APC lying minister keeps saying everything is in place. No salary for health workers in teaching hospitals and una say make doctors and nurses dey die abi?
Re: Lassa Fever Kills Two In Asaba FMC by Nobody: 9:07pm On Jan 24, 2016
Dr Jeanette M. Troup was the medical doctor who in 1969 provided some of the first clinical descriptions of Lassa fever while working as a medical doctor in a nearby mission hospital. She cared for three nurses...including Penny Pineo who survived long enough to get to America where she got some more supportive treatment...and she surivied.

Sadly, Dr J.M.Troup died several months later of Lassa. She caught the very disease she was fighting.

She did not run away.Neither did any of the nurses and other medical staff who worked with her run away.

I guess the problem with us Nigerian medics is that we have lost that desire to lay down our lives for our patients. We better get that desire back. Otherwise....we may as well leave the medical profession...whether doctor ,nurse, pharmacist, etc.
