Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC are said to have turned down request by counsels to two former service chiefs that they are willing to refund part of the alleged looted funds to the coffers of the Federal Government in exchange for their freedom.
A highly placed source at the EFCC, during the weekend told Nigerian Pilot that two different lawyers (names withheld) had last week written to the acting chairman of the commission, ACP Ibrahim Magu pledging to refund 60 percent of the alleged looted funds but the chairman reportedly turned down the request.
According to the source, ACP Magu insisted that they must appear before the operatives of the commission and clear their names over alleged involvement in the arms deals scandal.
The source further added that the visibly angry Magu insisted that due process and rule of law must be followed in the investigations of the service chiefs and that plea bargain is not known to the Nigerian law and constitution.

60% only- they aren't serious. Very hardened criminals, these men.

First, you obtained the money through illegal means which could see you go to prison forfeiting not only the money but also your freedom. So if you don't wanna have your freedom tampered with, you should be speaking in the region of 95%.

Remember- it is NOT your money.

EFCC should please collect the 60% first, after collection, they can then drag them to court and see if more can still be squeezed out of them.

Rejecting the 60% offer and going through a lengthy court process may be counterproductive.

I was tempted to feel for the alleged service chiefs but they however betrayed the military etiquette of discipline and therefore must live with the consequences of their actions.

Nonetheless their willingness to enter a plea bargain should be explore in the first instance. This move is what differentiate a disciplined military personnel from their bloody civilian counterparts like the Metuhs who prefer to die on a hunger strike than to return money.

Since our constitution does nt recognise plea bargain, why then was Jafaru Isa of APC left off the hook when he allegedly returned 70% of the money he recieved from the Dasukigate scandal.
And why has APC and Buhari continually told us that some corrupt public servants and politicians has actually returned their loot and their names would be made public later,as against our constitutional stand on plea bargain.
APC always speaking from both side of their mouths.
Re: Arms Deal: EFCC Rejects Ex-service Chiefs’ Plea-bargain Bid by dustydee: 9:02am On Jan 25, 2016
They should collect the alleged 60% and use it as evidence to collect the remaining amount of money.

...don't be ignorant, global warming doesn't mean there won't be cold during the winter but it will be too much cold, too much warm, too much rain!
