Netflix Is Now In Nigeria, But Some Titles You Might Want To Watch Are Not by Nobody: 9:14pm On Jan 26, 2016
A few weeks ago Netflix decided to launch its streaming services in 130 more countries, including the entertainment hub of Africa, Nigeria. While that was initially greeted with people applauding the decision and welcoming the service, a couple of people were equally quick to point out that the certain factors such as internet speed and tariff would hinder Nigerians from enjoying what Netflix has to offer.

The 3 major telcos in Nigeria; Glo, Etisalat and Airtel have already rolled out data packages to address the tariff/bandwidth and speed issue making it possible for those willing to try the service to do so at an affordable rate (at least that’s what they claim). What hasn’t been raised or addressed however is the fact that there are a great deal of titles (Tv series and movies) that are not available to be viewed in Nigeria.

Prior to the introduction of Netflix in Nigeria, it had been announced that movies such as the reigning media champ, Biyi Bandele's Fifty would be available on the streaming service so it was only natural that i search for those ones after signing up. Unfortunately running a search for those movies and a couple of others (House of Cards included) fails to return any result.

Someone once suggested that Dstv will feel the impact of Netflix spreading to Nigeria. However from the looks of things, i doubt the cable network will notice it one bit as Netflix isn’t really offering anything new to begin with.

Let’s know what you think about the service being available in Nigeria are you impressed so far or not.
