The immediate past governor of Kogi state, Idris Wada of the Peoples Democratic Party, was absent at the inauguration of his successor, Yahaya Bello of the All Progressives Congress, on Wednesday.

He was not available to perform handover formalities or make a speech at the inauguration ceremony.

Mr. Wada’s whereabouts remained unknown but those close to him said he might have travelled out of Nigeria.

Idris Wada is to blame in some way for all that has happened in Kogi over the past months. The fight over who won the election and the issue of who to appoint as deputy.
If he was a performing governor, people would not have preferred Audu to him. They would have gladly given him a second mandate by voting for him again and so the death of Audu would not have caused any problem as to who the winner would be since he (Wada) would have had majority of the people's votes.
But because he failed to deliver, the people wanted a change and thus decided to go for Audu. Even though Audu wasn't the best choice, Wada was just not an option.
Wada's ineptitude is the root cause of all the hullabaloo.

Wrong! Wada isn't the first to do a seamless transition, Audu was an ANPP governor when Ibro won the election on the platform of PDP in 2003 and the transition was even smoother than this one.
