In a recent article posted in the Economist, the writer displayed lack of professionalism by insulting our former president. The magazine went further to praise PMB for his declaration of asset which it stated as follows "$150,000 and a few cattles" They left out two SUVs worth $300,000. If the president is this "poor" where did the millions donated by our first lady to the IDP camp come from?

That said, this article is not meant to ridicule anyone, rather it is to register my disapproval at the name calling antics of the so called "reputable" magazine.

All the statements made against GEJ are allegations and not proven facts, so one wonders why a magazine referred to as "reputable" will certify someone guilty based on unproven speculations.

The Economist show of shame should not be tolerated irrespective of your party affiliation. One is tempted to think that they are taking advantage of our own lack of respect for GEJ, because past leaders e. g. Abacha, whose looted funds are still being recovered till this day, was never disrespected in this manner, despite clear evidence of his misappropriation of funds.

We should demand an unreserved apology from the tabloid. Name calling of our high profile personalities by any foreign media is an insult on us all.
