The bail request by the detained leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, Nnamdi Kanu has been turned down by A Federal High Court in Abuja. Kanu who has been in detention since his arrest in October, 2015 for running an underground radio that spreads hate messages in a push for the creation of independent state of Biafra. However, the court ruled that Kanu must remain in prison pending his trial for alleged treason. The Nigerian government had earlier refused to release the IPB leader on two occasions that he had been granted bail by the courts.
