Chineme Okafor in Abuja

The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) on Wednesday disclosed that Nigeria has, for the first time in the history of her electricity generation, generated about 5,074 megawatts (MW) of electricity.

The TCN through its System Operator department, announced this new milestone Wednesday in Abuja.

It stated that it was pleased to announce the attainment of the new record peak generation of 5074.7MW as well as the highest maximum daily energy of 109,372 megawatts hour (MWH) which it wheeled across the country.

The new marks were attained on Tuesday, February 2, 2016, the TCN explained

My inverter batteries are weak,, my Gen is getting worn out due to lack of electricity supply..

Yet this Mongo Park's are telling me they reached 5,000MW....nonsense undecided

Power supply in my area has improved though we have outages from time to time. Anyone living around odili road area in PH should be able to attest to this...

It has improve in Ajah, Lekki, Lagos. I even thought other areas had issues cos if they even take the light the maximum time interval is 30mins - 1 hour. I never knew mega watts was increased.

Good that people are observing changes. Just that the impact isn't felt everywhere. If this government means real business and with the tariff increase,it's gonna get better.

Has it entered national grid.. Ofcourse not, so light has improved campaign has nothing 2 do with 5000BW achieved... I just pray the capital projects of this administration with tackle power generation 1st, distributionn supply will b dealt with accordingly
