Yes...them Kenyans have a high altitude training camp...and yes...hundreds of runners from all over the world have been coming.Even Mo Farah the British athlete, spent several months there in 2008.

As for the ''malnourished look''....the guy just has low body fat. Bruce lee...who I mentioned earlier...had very low body fat.He was also very strong....with some of his feats becoming the stuff of legend.(http://www.chinawhisper.com/top-10-bruce-lees-surprising-physical-feats/)

Bruce lees physical feats where not because of his less fat
There are shaolin masters as fat as bag of beans who can perform feats Bruce lee, jet li, donnie yen or any other famous martial artist can not dream of

Those feats where due to what we Martial artist call CONDITIONING

You see in Martial arts training (especially chinese martial arts)you train in 3 different ways

One training is geared towards attaining physical fitness
This involves stretches (for flexibility), cardio-vascular excersices (running, jugging and other breath control exercises) as well as other exercises that are ment to get you to sound physical condition (flexibility, agility, stamina etc)
Because as a person no matter how great your fighting/martial arts skills and techniques are
If you are not physically fit you can not fight!!

Another training is geared towards forms/katas
These forms/katas form the basis of the martial artist movements and techniques
As a martial artist your movement, strikes (punches, kicks etc), stance and overall body posture is supposed to be different from a normal untrained person
The movement and techniques are hidden within the various forms/katas which the martial artist constantly practises till they form part of his natural movement and reaction (practise till they become naturally instinctive)
He/she is also eventually able to attain full control of his or her body reactions
Because as a martial artist your ultimate aim is to attain control over your body and mind!

The last and most important form of training is
Conditioning
This aspect of training is what defines you as a true martial artist
Because conditioning is slow gradual process that requires years of constant training to attain a result
Conditioning is done in 2 aspects
Externally and Internally

Externally it involves your body parts (fists, head, leg, chest, fingers, elbows, knees etc) being conditioned through various training routines so as to maximise your ability to attack (strikes) and defend (withstand the impact of strikes)
The aim of the martial artist is to condition these body parts to be as hard as steel if possible

Internally it involves generating of "chi" aka life force/life energy/energy
You see
Everything is energy
Everthing!!!
Energy manifests in 2 forms
Potential (static) and kinetic
You create "life" when your able to harness both forms of energy when creating any thing

Take yourself for instance
You are alive because you are a combination of potential form of energy which is your meat container aka body and kinetic form of energy which is your "chi" aka life energy

Your "chi" is what makes you alive
When your "chi" is gone you are dead
That is why you hear stories of people whose body where pronounced dead and made to lay in the murge but still end up waking up cause their "chi" is still within them

"Chi" is unsustantial, something you cannot see or hold
In your body the "chi" is located somewhere between below the abdomen and above the pelvic

As a martial artist your aim is to generate "chi" to any (conditioned) body part of yours (finger, fist, leg, throat, chest etc)that you wish to use to attack (strike) or defend (absolve strikes)

This is why for example
you can see a martial arts master puncture a watermelon with just a finger
Or a shaolin disciple break a spear placed on his throat with out it pearcing through his throat
Or a master breaking a wooden baseball bat with his back when it is used to strike him

In kungfu you generate "chi" through various excersises from a horse stance
You are surposed to be able to generate and channel your "chi" to any part of you body (even soft tissue parts)
This is what makes you a true martial artist because you would have attained the ability to control your mind and body

This has nothing to do with how much fat you have in your body

With the right training anybody can perfom those feats regardless of how fat or slim they are
