Throughout my long stay in Germany never for once have I seen the poster of any government official ranging from smallest up to the Chancellor Merkel either on the road, offices or anywhere. I
Yet they do their jobs and the reasons for being elected effectively.

The president is like a ceremonial prime minister without executive powers while the chancellor is the de facto leader with executive powers who calls the shots.
Though one can equate them to our own vp and the president but while our vp can become the president in the event of the president being incapacitated, such transfer of powers and position is not possible in the case of Germany.
And i think Germany is the only country i know of in the world that uses chancellor for their leader.
