Sighs. You've got a point.
ULSHERLAN:

It is possible there is gold in Ife but I'm very sure of the one in Ilesa which is of placer deposit.

Nigeria is really blessed with solid minerals distributed everywhere. There is no state in Nigeria without a solid mineral. If only government can look into this then oil and gas wouldn't dictate our economy.

This is the much awaited action needed to be taken not just from the Ooni but from the federal & state heads. Really don't know why oil was just the sole focus when we had other superb minerals...imagine where the country would have been if all its minerals were explored with excellent management over its operations & agriculture in full swing....I doubt if NGR would have been placed in same position with 'developing nations'.

How much is Gold in the commodity market and whats the size of your deposit? The largest exporter of Gold is China with 450 Metric tonnes /yr. current price is $1195 per ounce. The Oba should rather invest in the human brain oil. Annual pharmaceutical earnings from India is hundred fold higher than their neighbors earning from Gold exports.

Pharmaceuticals export contributes 7.5% of Indian GDP ($2.18 trillion - four times Nigerian's) and contributed 26% of India's merchandise exports. No country have grown of these natural resources. Japan with zero natural resources has a GDP of 4.92 trillion with a population 123m over 377,944 km² land area;
major exports;

Vehicles: US$134 billion (21.4% of total exports)
Machines, engines, pumps: $117.7 billion (18.8%)
Electronic equipment: $95.6 billion (15.3%)
Medical, technical equipment: $35.7 billion (5.7%)
Iron and steel: $27.5 billion (4.4%) (without a single deposit of Iron ore)
Plastics: $22.5 billion (3.6%) with zero rubber plantation
Organic chemicals: $17.9 billion (2.9%)
Ships, boats: $11.4 billion (1.8%)
Oil: $11.4 billion (1.8%) (refined crude Oil)
Rubber: $10.3 billion (1.6%)

Rubber export opportunities
China: -US$4.9 billion (net export deficit down -12% since 2010)
United States: -$1.8 billion (down -31.7%)
Japan: -$1.4 billion (down -41.1%)
India: -$833.7 million (up 42.3%)
South Korea: -$825.4 million (down -30.2%)

Amazing comment

But Gold and other commodity prices are down globally...Jonathan sef embarassed

Gold is down yy-yy but it's historic trend is up and this is because whenever international stocks and commodities have a downturn it goes up. It also goes up when there is an unrest anywhere in the world. The only way gold is not going to do well is if all markets keep doing well and there are no wars and conflicts in the world. And we know that's not going to happen. So the Ooni is right; gold, precious metals and minerals are the way to go.

I am writing as an avid investor in gold coins since 2008.

Sir,
GMB is only investing in the North, it's called Northocracy.

As you can see he is spending billions looking for oil in the north while ignoring the south.

Spending more on the Aso Rocks Clinic than the whole Nigeria put together.

Unless there is a way the Gold in the west can be dug up miraculously in the north, they will not be interested.

Its called Northocracy.

The Nigeria Beyond Oil and Gas we desire is here. All alternative sources of revenue such as agriculture including Nigerian Mining Industry for minerals, gemstones and metals must be explored for a sustainable Nigerian economy. Long live the King Oba Ooni of Ife, A man of Great intellect. He has been so passionate about the plight of Nigeria and his community. Despite that he is young in age; he has presented himself as a role model that other monarchs in the country should emulate. May you live long on the throne. Nigerian youths are proud of you.
