The first primaries in the nation are finally here.

New Hampshire voters headed to the polls Tuesday to cast their ballots in the first primaries of the 2016 election season.

Democratic presidential candidate and Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vermont) and Republican business mogul Donald Trump are the favorites in their respective parties.

Sanders enjoys a more-than 13-point lead over former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton in the Democratic race, according to the RealClearPolitics average of several recent polls. Sanders and Clinton are the only two candidates running on the Democratic side after former Maryland Gov. Martin O’Malley (D) dropped out following last Monday’s Iowa caucuses.

Trump holds an even bigger lead on the GOP side: about 17 points over the candidate in second place, Sen. Marco Rubio (R-Florida), based on the website’s average.

Rubio, Ohio Gov. John Kasich (R), former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush (R), and Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) are all bunched up in a four-way heat for the second place position.

8:05 p.m. ET — Clinton conceded the race to Sanders.

8:00 p.m. ET — BREAKING: Trump and Sanders win the primary, per multiple outlets including CNN and the AP.

7:58 p.m. ET — Politico, with roughly 4% of precincts reporting on both sides, is showing a 53.3% – 44.6% lead for Sanders, and a 33.1% – 16.8% lead for Trump over Kasich.

Polls are set to close at 8 p.m.

Rick Santorium was the first choice of my entire family but, it wasn't meant to be. We then looked into Jeb because we love anything Bush, but he has used all his time to attack Rubio for reasons known to him.

The battle between Trump and Sanders will be the most interesting. I say No to a far left socialist and Yes to radical capitalist.

Sickens me how Nigerians first reaction is "aaah we no go get visa again" why don't u stay home and contribute ur own efforts to make ur country great instead of perpetually aspiring to be a second class citizen in countries that have their own people to take care of. Trump never made any negative remarks about Africans, never mind those silly local bloggers, but even if he did, why should Nigerians be a factor or priority in a US election?

It's not just Nigerians, foreigners generally. The man is racist and doesn't hide it. I've seen several racists, but they often pretend not to be, but his case is glaring. Racism has already eaten deep into the US system, with someone like Thrump leading the country, US will likely face issues with several countries.

Thrump has problems with africans, hispanics, Muslims, African Americans and others. If he pushes for repatriation of foreigners, several countries would gladly repatriate Americans as well. I wouldn't be suprised if he's one of the dumb Americans that don't believe there are some Americans living and working in other countries.

I don't know how he intends to win because the stated races and religion have a huge population in the US.

Abeg oga, take it easy na. Why call him names? It is normal for people to be interested in the elections of other nations- notice the intense interest in the Taiwanese elections by the Chinese. This is due to strategic and trade considerations. While the American president is not elected to cater for Nigerians, Nigerians should be expected to be concerned by the election due to the large Nigerian diaspora in the United States and fact that that diaspora is a vital source of income to our people.

Any candidate that will create an enabling environment for our citizens to prosper should be supported by all Nigerians because a rising tide lifts all boats. We are not the only people that watch the American elections carefully- the Israelis, Ukrainians, Syrians, Russians and Mexicans are watching very closely as well.

Oga, I do not believe that Trump is a racist at all. He only says that because he knows that that is what Republicans want to hear. Once he wins the nomination I expect that he will mellow out and show his moderate side because he knows that the Republicans will vote for him whatever he says due to the fear of not wanting a Democrat to remain in the White House.

He knows total deportation of illegal immigrants is not feasible and will do significant damage to the construction and agricultural industries in the US and I strongly suspect that he will simply use Presidential authority to hasten deportations of dangerous criminals and greatly increase the resources directed to border patrol with the objective of stopping new illegal immigrants from crossing into the country.

He will then probably tighten the noose around those already here leading to a situation where life becomes so unbearable that they simply go by themselves. This will include getting rid of the DACA program that allows children brought to the States as children to go to school and work. If he wins, I am sure that a lot of people affected will get married to citizens in an effort to escape the worst of his policies.

No, we loved the guy, but now I'm for Trump. I'm drawn to anti establishment, something new and refreshing, people who are not afraid to say it as they see it. I kinda like Sanders a little but, I'm republican to the bone.
