Governor Udom Emmanuel yesterday led the people of Akwa Ibom in thanksgiving to God for the confirmation of his election by the Supreme Court.

Udom Emanuel used the event to thank God for seeing him through the political litigation and assured the people of his readiness to deploy all the resources of the state for the benefit of all.

He commended President Muhammadu Buhari for his non interference in the judicial process and lauded the Supreme Court judges for ensuring justice and validating his election saying that by their landmark verdict, Nigeria is gradually witnessing true democracy.
‘’I wish to commend President Muhammadu Buhari for his stance of non interference with the judicial process thereby ensuring that democracy takes a firm root in the country’’.

The event which took place at the Godswill Akpabio International stadium attracted dignitaries from across the country. Among them were the Governor of Rivers state Barrister Nyesom Wike, Dr Ayodele Fayose of Ekiti state, Bayelsa State, Seriake Dickson, Abia State Dr Okezie Ikpeazu and PDP Acting chairman, Prince Uche Secondus.

In his sermon, the guest preacher, Bishop David Oyedepo of the Living Faith Church harped on the significant and spiritual relevance of thank giving. He also stressed the need to depend on God for victory in the storms of life.
Dr David Oyedepo who said that thanksgiving is debt that individual owes to every act of God stressed that for thanksgiving to be relevant and meaningful to God and even human it must be timely and targeted right.

The cleric, who commended Governor Udom Emmanuel and the people of Akwa Ibom for putting up the thanksgiving at the appropriate time said that thanksgiving was an expression of pride.
Speaking on behalf of other governors in attendance, Governor Ayodele Fayose of Ekiti state acknowledged the mass support enjoyed by Governor Emmanuel among his people and pledged the continued solidarity of PDP to the people of the state.
On his part the PDP, Prince Uche Secodus said he was satisfied with the present performance of all PDP governors in the country and enjoined them to continue to give the people the dividends of democracy.
