The Kwara Leadership Caucus (KLC),
a non-governmental agency has
commended the Supreme Court over
its judgement on the case filed by
Senate President Bukola Saraki
against Code of Conduct Bureau.
The caucus, in a statement issued in
Ilorin, the Kwara State capital
yesterday by it State Co-ordinator,
Mohammed Shuaib Kudu and
Secretary, Mr Lanre Yusuf stated that
the entire people of Ilorin and the
state appreciated the landmark
judgement.
"The Caucus commends the Supreme
Court for affixing judicial stamp of
authority to the clear provisions of
the relevant laws considered in the
case.
"The decision of the Court has further
demonstrated the readiness, ability
and capability of the Supreme Court
of Nigeria to do justice according to
law and facts without fear or favour,
ill will or affection. It is our hope
and prayer that the decision will
mark the beginning of the much
needed sustained synergy between
the judiciary and President
Muhammad Buhari's led executive to
wage determined and sustained war
against corruption and corrupt
people in the country".
The group, which appealed to all
courts involved in the trials of
corruption and corruption related
cases and the judiciary, stated that
there was strong need for them to
partner with the other arms of
governments to save the country
from the claws and clutches of
corrupt public officers.
"The caucus also use this medium to
remind the executive arm of
government represented by the
Honourable Attorney-General of the
Federation and the Code of Conduct
Tribunal that the trial of the Senate
President represents a mirror to
assessing the resoluteness,
determination and sincerity of
President Buhari and his
administration to fight corruption in
the country and bring corrupt people
to justice.
"Therefore, now that the coast is
cleared for the unprecedented trial of
No.3 citizen for false asset
declaration, the whole World is
watching with keen interest and rapt
and probing attention and waiting to
see how the prosecution and
Tribunal will fare in the days ahead
with respect to the epoch trial."
The caucus, which appealed to
President Buhari, EFCC and ICPC to
beam their searchlight on the

alleged that substantial part of
billions of naira from federal
allocation and Internal Generated
Revenue (IGR) to both the state and
local government ended up in a
private pockets of those that were in
saddled of leadership in the state.
They also reminded the anti-graft
agencies of many petitions sent in
the past on many act of corruption
perpetrated in Kwara State especially
the looting of depositors' fund at the
defunct Society General Bank
Limited.
"The caucus hopes those petitions will
soon receive the deserved attention
and the culprits brought to book".
