South Africa to pay everyone in the country $500 a month Authorities in South Africa have considered giving every citizen a tax-free payout of 8,000 ZAR ($500) each month. This move by the government to pay every citizen a national basic income, would replace all other benefit payments, and would be paid to all citizens regardless of whether or not they receive any other income. “This is the time for the citizens to benefit directly from the national cake. The country’s funds are not for the politicians alone. Everyone has to enjoy” the president Jacob Zumah told Ondamic.com. The basic income will cost South Africa roughly $50 billion per year if fully implemented and it is a peanut of the monies given to King of Swaziland, Mswati III. |
