Lilimax: Gini mere ya ekwensu? Once you don't combine it with jazz or fetish, masquerades are just artistic displays of our culture and tradition. |

RichYoungNigger: LOL. White man countries have MASQUERADES, some, even more sophisticated and huge than the ones here in Nnewi. But white man still prays Christianity. Separate religion from culture. This is a display of cultural heritage, not religion. |

sugarbeesmith: Because you hardly know Jesus, hardly understand His teachings. Some poorly educated pastor who is more or less like you teach you nonsense. Culture was there before Christianity came. There is a huge difference between Igbo cultures and Christianity You can take part in these cultural displays, yet be a good follower of Christ. 2 Likes |

Reminds me of a traditional marriage I went to at Nkwerre in Imo State. In the middle of the programme, after the nuptial dance, I rose up to go and one masquerade stood in my way at the gate; and everyone's eyes were on me. Whoever that was wearing the masquerade wanted me to drop money, but I'll never do that. I don't patronise jobless people. I stepped aside, it stepped that direction too, sprawling and rolling on the floor, to cover any space I could use to exit the gate. I hesitated for few seconds, told the masquerade to shift, no movement. Every eye was now in our direction. It was an embarrassing moment, so I grabbed the idiot on his costume and with all my might, flung him out of my way and passed on. Good riddance. The person wearing the masquerade did well not to repeat the trash outside the gate coz there are no distinguished guests and friends outside the gate. Just random fellows. I would have beaten the hell out of him and dislocated his acromio-clavicular joints. 3 Likes 1 Share |

mentorandfriend: You jam armed robbers for Bini. Does that make Bini people armed robbers? Because of one isolated incident of harassment by a masked miscreant, na him make you write all these? 3 Likes |

millionaireman: shut up. go worship your own fake jew diety and leave them to do as they please. if you want to preach , if you have the guts, go preach ot boko haram cult followers. and by the way this is not a drama or clown show. this is originally intended to be a spirit possession ritual . we do similar in our village. the "masquerade" acts as a moving idol for hte particular spirit. 3 Likes |

mentorandfriend: how cheap of you. this is their only source of income at events. and your payment is supposed to be a sacrifice to the spirit represented. you wont get it. but when you face bad karma you will. 1 Like |
